Job description

Located in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains in California, Astrea is a DNA service laboratory that uses proprietary methods for improving the recovery of DNA data from the most degraded of biological samples. We are a small company and prefer this role to be based in our Scotts Valley offices, but are open to location for the right candidate.

This is the first Commercial role in our startup. In this role you will increase our visibility in the marketplace and help us grow our thriving startup by concentrating on building new business and increasing sales through marketing, sales, and contract negotiation while managing the quote to cash process. Some travel required (5-10%) to represent the company at trade shows and industry events.

You will be an integral part of our team, developing a strong understanding of our DNA offerings and a passion for its value. You will work alongside Astrea scientists to interface with law enforcement clients and other investigators, providing quotes, order confirmation and invoices, as well as being able to communicate status updates, and monitor customer satisfaction to ensure that service levels are being met.

Position Requirements

• 5 years Business Development, Sales, and Lead Generation
• Experience with pricing and contract negotiation, specifically government RFP/RFQ responses
• Project management experience, ideally in a service lab environment
• Management of quote to cash process; experience with Sage Intacct a plus
• Ability to work in-person in Scotts Valley, CA

Desired Experience

• Working knowledge of DNA and/or forensic laboratory
• Experience identifying, organizing, and working tradeshow events
