Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:30 am - 1:30 pm

About Little Wonders Nature Preschool:

Little Wonders Nature Preschool is a half-day program for children ages 3-5, located at EdenAcres farm campus. Our program offers a transition into an educational setting where nature is the first teacher. We nurture every aspect of a young child's development, encouraging learning through play and exploration, and promoting social-emotional development and self-expression. Our curriculum emerges from each child's unique needs and aptitudes, preparing them for kindergarten.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Nature Preschool Teacher to join our teaching team as our Little Wonders teacher. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages children to explore and learn through nature. The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing a curriculum that aligns with our philosophy of hands-on, nature-based, and child-led discovery and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement daily activities that support sensory integration and thriving in the elements.
  • Provide a tender and supportive environment that encourages learning through play and exploration.
  • Promote social-emotional development and self-expression in young children.
  • Guide children in hands-on activities such as engaging with farm animals, exploring the forest, and tending the garden.
  • Maintain a safe and nurturing nature classroom, ensuring children are comfortable and confident outdoors. Assess and manage risk in outdoor learning spaces.
  • Foster a sense of respect for all cultures, creatures, and environments.
  • Support children in developing problem-solving skills, self-regulation, and cooperative communication.
  • Collaborate with parents and staff to support each child's unique development.
  • Provide a safe environment at all times. Recognize, mitigate, and respond to hazards to ensure a healthy and safe program for all staff and participants.
  • Communicate health and safety information clearly and effectively to leadership, other Teachers, and other EA staff as necessary.
  • Fulfill assigned duties in an emergency situation. Handle emergency situations safely and effectively
  • Staff and facilitate marketing events as needed.
  • Maintain the rhythm of the day.
  • Collaborate and communicate with teachers and leadership to maintain facilities in good operational order.
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and compassionately with parents and students.
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and compassionately with other educators, leadership team, other staff, and board of directors.
  • Facilitate dropoff and pickup.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education, or related field.
  • Experience in early childhood education, preferably in a nature-based or outdoor setting.
  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood curriculum.
  • Strong commitment to nature-based education and child-centered learning.
  • Certified in CPR/First Aid and epipen administration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm about working in an inclusive environment which serves children of all backgrounds and abilities
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations, including communities of color, immigrants, and underserved communities
  • Must be physically able to lead students in hikes of up to 5 miles in a day
  • Must have visual, perceptual, cognitive and judgment ability to: recognize and respond verbally to health and safety concerns and to deal appropriately with any improper behavior
  • CPR & First Aid, Epi-pen training
  • Grit, compassion, and patience
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators.
  • Background check clearance.
  • Dual language speakers (Spanish and English) are strongly encouraged to apply.
