Eden Autism Services is Hiring a Special Education Teaching Assistant Near Princeton, NJ

At Eden Autism Services, our Teaching Assistants are more than just classroom support. They educate, encourage, collaborate, and advocate. Under direct supervision of certified teachers, and the clinical support of BCBAs, our Teaching Assistants implement instructional and behavior reduction programs for students with autism ages 3-21. Responsibilities include:

  • Implement IEP goals using Applied Behavior Analysis-based strategies.
  • Utilize behavior support plans and crisis management techniques to assist in managing challenging behaviors such as tantrums, self-injury, and/or aggression.
  • Collect teaching and behavior data; maintain graphs for all programs.
  • Contribute to the development of instructional and behavior management programs.
  • Develop quarterly progress reports with in-depth summaries of growth and problem areas.
  • Tending to daily physical self-care needs of the students (e.g., toileting, dressing, showering, etc.).

This is a full time position - Monday through Friday, 8:30am-3:00pm.

Compensation starts at $16 per hour, dependent on Education and Experience levels.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in college program preferred

Physical Abilities:

  • Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
  • Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise independent judgement, and make appropriate decisions based on established policies and procedures.
