Eddy House is Hiring a Youth Advocate (Full-Time Swing) Near Reno, NV

Position Description:
The Youth Advocate is responsible for welcoming new clients and ensuring that Eddy House is a safe, positive environment for our clients. This position will work with the team of YA’s, Case Managers, and the Therapist to assist with client care.

Essential Job Functions may include the following or other duties as assigned:

  • Develop positive relationships with clients while modeling healthy boundaries.
  • Advocate for clients and communicate progress to the rest of the client care team.
  • Maintain the safety and security of Eddy House for our clients.
  • Monitor front door and check-in process for clients including client assessments.
  • Provide clients with necessary Care & Comfort items including clothing, hygiene, access to computers, food, and wi-fi.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and case managers or therapists.
  • Assist in performing community outreach to reach new clients.
  • Transport clients to appointments when necessary.
  • Assist with cleaning the facility
  • Facilitate groups in areas of skill and passion.
  • Restock Care & Comfort items in Clothing Closet and Resource Hall.
  • Communicate client breach of conduct to Client Care Team.
  • Provide excellent professional service in person and on the phone. All communication is professional, client focused, and helpful.
  • Assist others as requested or assigned and perform related duties as required.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintain professional and courteous appearance and demeanor.

Requirements/Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Minimum: Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check with no charges in the last 5 years and no charges related to abuse, neglect, assault, kidnapping, or battery whatsoever.
  • Valid Nevada driver’s license and reliable vehicle with current vehicle registration and insurance.
  • High school diploma, preferred.
  • Previous experience in youth services, preferred.
  • Must demonstrate high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and be culturally competent and sensitive to client needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and in a calm and pleasant manner.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and write checklists, reports, and correspondence. Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, memos, etc.
  • Ability to analyze and perform complex computations with reasonable speed and accuracy. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, stand, walk, bend, drive, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer business equipment and while driving.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion. The noise level in the work environment is usually low level.The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort and light exertion. There is occasional exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, and temperature changes.
