About ECU Health Bertie Hospital
ECU Health Bertie Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 6-bed critical access hospital in Windsor. It is closely affiliated with ECU Health Medical Center and the telemedicine resources of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. The hospital offers high quality surgical, emergency and diagnostic services, as well as specialty and primary care clinics.
Position Summary
Serves as a liaison between the Nursing Staff and the department, and other departments within the hospital and the general public.
Responsibilities
Maintains a Consistent Medical Record: Monitors patients chart electronically through Healthspan and verifies completeness of record. Maintains paper charts forms and downtime charts.
Communicates with Healthcare providers concerning documentation needs in the patients chart.
Assist in patient transfers: Assist in contact with receiving facility.
Verifies completeness of record. Demonstrates ability to obtain and print chart information as needed. Faxes necessary information to receiving facilities. Notifies appropriate agencies for transportation needs.
Performs Receptionist Duties and Maintain Professionalism for Nursing Units: Promotes Patient Centered Care.
Manages patients needs through answering telephones, call bells and relaying patient and or family request to nurse and or physician. Assist in maintaining orderly and professional environment. Completes patient logs. Assist with ordering and restocking of supplies. Coordinates transfers of patients to other facilities and inner hospital transfers.
Establishes, maintains, and keeps current office files, safe guarding confidentiality of all records and files. Adheres to hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrates effective interpersonal relations and communications skills.
Participates in unit department and hospital activities
Participates in Environment of Care: Assist the licensed staff and recognizes the secretarys role during a disaster.
Verbalizes processes for reporting security incidents involving patients. Verbalizes location of MSDS. Verbalizes processes for reporting utility systems management problems and failures.
Assist in keeping the unit neat and orderly.
Assist licensed staff and recognizes the secretary role in the following codes: Pink, Red, and Blue.
Follows infection control policies and procedures specific to the department. Follows all policies.
Participates in Quality Improvement: Participates in cost saving activities. Employs safety practices for nursing unit.
Participates in continuing education. Fulfills annual requirements. Orients new staff and students to the unit.
