General Job Summary:
Develops and directs quality control programs. Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained. Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement. Ensure the promotion and awareness of customer/quality standard requirements throughout the organization Supervises quality personnel.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Work with process owners to establish, implement, and maintain the quality management system.
2. Report to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.
3. Work with process owners to promote the quality standard as well as customer specific requirements.
4. Coordinate internal audit functions.
5. Coordinate quality certification audit functions.
6. Prepares and monitors quality performance and improvement plans. Defines corrective actions, assembles corrective action teams, and verifies corrective action effectiveness.
7. Initiate and control Internal / External 8-D actions. Issue RMA return authorization.
8. Coordinates outsourced sorting needs.
9. Maintain document and data control for the organization.
10. Supervises plant quality control personnel.
11. Monitors production conformance with QA standards and procedures.
12. Establish quality control for product and processes.
13. Product Change Control – PPAP, APQP, FMEA Review, Work Instruction, SPC.
14. Anticipates and responds to the business needs of others; provides assistance in a courteous, quick manner; treat others with care and respect, maintaining privacy and confidentiality at all times. Maintains a professional appearance and a clean safe environment.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Communication skills necessary to provide information in a courteous and comprehensible fashion (oral and written).
2. Knowledge of database.
3. Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software, including Excel and Access database.
4. Understanding of Network Directories and filing.
5. Knowledge of TS 16949, ISO 9000, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 elements.
6. Knowledge of import objects and object manipulation.
7. Ability to compose and transcribe correspondence, memorandums, documents, and the like with speed and accuracy, minimum 60 wpm.
8. Basic to moderate knowledge of the injection molding business.
9. Organizational skills necessary for keeping department documents and the like.
10. Knowledge of Powerway Procedure Writer Software a plus.
11. Project management skills
Working Conditions:
1. Shop office environment with regular exposure to moderate noise from office equipment, shop machines and / or generated by shop staff members.
2. Frequently utilizes computer, printer, and fax machine. Copy machine; occasionally utilizes telephone.
3. Occasionally lifting and carrying books, folders and other items weighing up to approximately twenty-five pounds. Generally sedentary work but requires walking and standing approximately twenty-five percent of work time when carrying out job functions such as obtaining information from staff members, overseeing office and the like.
Minimum Level of Preparation and Training:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience. Prefer four to six years Q.C. experience, 3 years supervisory experience in quality or inspection, and 5 years manufacturing experience.
