Eckroth Music is Hiring a Store Manager / School Service Representative Near Bismarck, ND

Description

As the Bismarck Store Manager/School Service Representative, you will have the opportunity to utilize your leadership skills in managing, mentoring, and running the operations of our Bismarck location and surrounding region. You will also be able to utilize outstanding customer service skills to help maintain Eckroth Music’s current customer base and build new customer relationships. A COMPOSED LEADER WITH A PASSION FOR MUSIC. You lead by example and remain calm and delegate tasks in a concise manner even in high-stress situations.

AN EXCELLENT COMMUNICATOR THAT PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY OF SERVICE. You communicate well across all levels in the company and with customers. You always provide the highest quality of service to Eckroth Music’s customers valuing service and quality above all else.

ORGANIZED AND AN EFFECTIVE PROBLEM SOLVER. You manage multiple competing tasks successfully and mentor others to prioritize effectively as urgent tasks arise.?? Prioritizes urgent tasks correctly as they arise, even if being pulled in multiple directions at once with varying timelines and deadlines.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Within the first 30 days:

  • Within the first week, partners closely with the Regional Manager to learn the ins and outs of the role and begins the Certification Program.
  • Within the first 3 weeks, introduces oneself to music teachers within the schools Eckroth Music services and begins developing relationships with teachers and working in a school service route.
  • Shadows the Regional Manager when reviewing the procedures and policies behind financial statements, expense/approval reports, and be familiar with financing options, company software and daily sales reports.
  • By the 30-day mark, handles ~75%-80% of all customer questions, concerns, and has completed the Certification Program.
  • Begins to set up Goal Tracking and creating the team schedule.
  • Begins understanding the instrument repair team, repair billing and commission structure.

3 months and ongoing:

  • Confidently handles customer questions, concerns, comments, etc. independently.
  • Partners with the Regional Manager and President to go over the store’s budget and learn the processes and procedures behind staying within budget, understands and tracks store financials and expenses.
  • Understands the different types of instrument repairs that the instrument repair shop does, and effectively delegates the cleaning of instruments that need to be regraded and recertified.
  • Understand the school service routes and optimizes them for profitability and growth.
  • Has developed a strong rental sales pitch by knowing the rental programs Eckroth Music offers.
  • Begins leading the ongoing training and development of the team.

6 to 12 months and ongoing:

  • Is effectively managing store inventory. Has a strong grasp of Eckroth Music’s products and gross margin attainment.
  • Is coaching, mentoring, growing and encouraging the team.
  • Understands the recruiting process in getting young children to start band or orchestra and executes instrument fittings and testing with local schools independently.
  • Oversees school bids.
  • Understands the process behind “big expenditures” and know the proper personnel to notify.
  • Is involved in creating the store budget, understands net income targets, is optimizing payroll and is managing expenses
  • Is developing a strong team and is building the best possible bench.
  • Is seen by employees and leadership as a trusted leader in the store. Partners with the President and the Regional Manager for an annual performance review.

Requirements

EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years’ experience in a people management role highly preferred
  • Previous management experience within a band and orchestra retail store highly preferred?
  • Highly proficient with various office equipment and programs including MS Office Suite required
  • 1 years’ experience in music retail role or related industry exhibiting soft sales skills required
  • Exhibits a passion for music and wants to help children find their passion for music required
  • Basic understanding of band and orchestra instruments and community required
  • Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED; or equivalent combination of education and experience) required
  • Bachelor of Music Education (BME) or similar music education background (i.e., music performance, etc.) highly preferred
  • Proven track record of being a successful music educator within music education programs, music retail stores or related program/industry highly preferred
  • Community involvement in bands, orchestra, or related community music event/program preferred
  • Plays a band or orchestra instrument preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with occasional weekends required
  • Ability to lift and/or ~50lbs of various music equipment required
