We are currently seeking a (1099) Denison, IA for 11.6 hours a week. We Offer

In collaboration, coordination and consultation with the Center Dentist, the Dental Assistant will perform services as outlined in the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH) and the Oral Health and Wellness Technical Assistance Guide as permitted by the state laws and standards of practice for Dental Assistants in the state of Iowa.
Essential Job Duties
  • Provide a minimum of 11.6 hours of Dental Assistant services per week for 52 weeks per year. Work schedule will be mutually agreed upon by the subcontractor and Wellness Director and must coincide with the work schedule of the Center Dentist. Frequent or extensive changes to the agreed-upon schedule will be unacceptable. On-site Dental Assistant services shall not be required during weekends, during Center holidays, or during the break period.
  • Certified to take x-rays.
  • Works with and under the leadership of the Center’s Dental Contractor.
  • Assist Center Dentist in providing services and promoting oral health and wellness.
  • Assist Center Dentist in coordination and integration of the center dental health Program, with emphasis on early detection, basic oral health care, dental hygiene, and preventative dental care education (e.g. oral hygiene instructions, carries risk assessments, and the relationship between oral health and employability) along with center wide educational activities.
  • Schedules and maintains the dental priority system.
  • Compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Maintains dental equipment and supplies to ensure proper function and operation.
  • Maintains compliance with all standards of practice and policies and procedures of infection control.
  • Maintains and performs quality assurance audits for the student’s dental records.
  • Participate in the department system for student feedback or concerns.
  • Maintains dental statistics for dental productivity and monthly utilization reports.
  • Maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of all required oral health and wellness records when they are in the subcontractor’s presence.
  • Provide support to the students in acquiring oral health-related skills, knowledge, and attitudes that will make them employable.
  • Promote opportunities for the students to practice the skills that will help make them employable.
  • Provide current copies of professional certifications and professional malpractice insurance annually.
  • Must maintain knowledge and compliance with all Dental Assistant practice laws for the state of Iowa.
Qualifications Include
  • Licensed Dental Assistant
  • Must be licensed to practice in Iowa
  • Must have experience working with disadvantaged youth
  • Job Corps experience preferred
  • Knowledge of mental health issues of disadvantaged youth
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulation
  • Strong assessment skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and listening
  • Must have a valid Iowa driver’s license with acceptable driving record
