Eck Industries, Inc. is Hiring a Perm Mold - 2nd shift Near Manitowoc, WI

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Permanent and semi-permanent molders are responsible for the proper melting of various alloys and their delivery to pouring permanent and/or semi-permanent molds according to job specific work instructions.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General:

  • Study work instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
  • Complete daily inspections on tools and equipment, filling out forms when required to do so.
  • Maintain housekeeping in the work area at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain area per established 6S standards.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisory or leadman personnel.


Melt Furnace:

  • Review the production schedule to determine what type and quantity of alloy is needed.
  • Scrape the inside of the furnace to remove residue as needed.
  • Obtain bars of ingot and/or internal cuttings and place into the melting furnace.
  • Degas the melted alloy by inserting the degassing lance, or flux injection unit, into the furnace.
  • Use skimmer to remove surface impurities.
  • Monitor gauges and record temperatures as required.
  • Take specimen disk and gas plug to ensure metal quality.


Permanent Molding:

  • Draw ladle of metal from furnace, carry to, and pour into permanent mold tooling.
  • Activate cycle timer.
  • Return excess metal to melting furnace.
  • Inspect casting from previous cycle and set aside to finished load.
  • Tend to melt furnace activities.
  • At end of cooling cycle, open mold, extract casting with tongs or hot pads, and set aside for inspection.
  • Maintain tooling surface, close mold, and repeat pour.

Semi-Permanent Molding:

  • Prepare semi-permanent mold core packages with core components and paste, and position assembly onto roller conveyor that feeds oven.
  • Using hoist with pick-up, move core package from oven to perm mold base tooling, aside hoist, and clamp mold.
  • Draw ladle of metal from furnace, carry to, and pour into semi-permanent mold package/tooling. Activate cycle timer. Return excess metal to melting furnace.
  • Visually inspect casting from previous cycle and reposition on finished load.
  • At end of cooling cycle: Remove clamps, use hoist with pick-up to move poured package from base tooling and set aside to finished load for inspection. Maintain tooling surface.
  • Preparation and maintenance of tools.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

At least one year of experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.


EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.
