Crownstone Equipment, founded in 2018, is the parent company for 6 Bobcat Dealerships: Bobcat of Adams County, Bobcat of Frederick, Bobcat of Hagerstown, Bobcat of Lancaster, Bobcat of Reading, and Bobcat of York. In addition to our compact equipment dealerships, Crownstone Outdoor Power, our Lawn & Garden Division, has two locations in Hanover, PA & Manassas, VA. As a Bobcat Dealer, we focus on selling, servicing, and renting both compact and lawn & garden equipment brands including Bobcat, Toro, Echo, STIHL, Fecon, and more.

This position is responsible for supporting customers by safely performing various maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair functions in a shop environment on gasoline & diesel-powered outdoor power equipment in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to the following):

  • Follow all company safety policies and practices to ensure a safe work environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Must be able to effectively use all information systems and equipment provided to meet company communication, diagnostics, research, and training needs.
  • Successfully able to execute the Service Work Order Repair Process
  • Ability to inspect & repair new, used, and failed 2-cycle handheld outdoor power equipment, to include lawn & garden machinery, identifying latent or specific problems (based on customer concern, operation, testing and diagnostic techniques) troubleshooting and analyzing the problem to determine root cause of the failure.
  • Ability to conduct research using company, public and OEM resources as necessary to determine required parts, repair procedures and labor hours required to correct the failure.
  • Perform the necessary maintenance and repairs using safe work practices including disassembly and reassembly of components as well as replacing defective parts.
  • Accurately record repair labor times for every repair in CDK operating system.
  • Notify management of any unforeseen conditions or issues out of the repair scope encountered during the repair process.
  • Upon repair completion, fully test the machine to ensure the problem has been successfully corrected.
  • Clean up work area, return any unused parts to the Parts Dept and return any special tools used to the tool cage.
  • Complete all required work order documentation in CDK in a timely fashion including accounting for all parts, labor time, completing required forms, attaching pictures & videos as well as writing a coherent, factual, and detailed repair summary.
  • Must regularly meet or exceed repair time standards as set by OEM guidance and management or demonstrate the ability to improve repair times to standard with repetition.
  • Repair quality must meet or exceed industry, company, and OEM workmanship standards.
  • Must possess basic to advanced electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, diagnosis, problem-solving, and repair skills depending on experience or demonstrate the ability to improve skills and retain knowledge to standard through task repetition, formal training, and on-the-job training.
  • Regularly and professionally support, communicate, and collaborate with other technicians, staff and management contributing to a productive teamwork environment.
  • Ensure company tooling and shop equipment is maintained, cleaned properly, and properly returned to storage after every use.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Support other branch functions including Rental and Parts as well as loading and unloading of machinery as required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • 1 to 10 years of experience as a technician in compact or heavy construction, lawn & garden, forklift, diesel, or farm equipment industries required.
  • Specific 2-cycle handheld & outdoor lawn & garden power equipment maintenance and repair experience required.
  • Compact or Heavy Equipment, Diesel, or Forklift Technician Certifications and training preferred. Any small engine or manufacturer certifications are welcomed!
  • General knowledge and familiarity with computer and information systems required.
  • DOT Medical Card preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
