SUMMARY
Under the overall supervision of the Director-Adult Education, and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Career Navigator/Program Support performs a variety of tasks necessary to support the Adult Education Program.
Provides assistance and support to the Adult Education program by managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, working independently and with a team, computer proficiency, strategizing implementing creative ideas to improve effectiveness or efficiency, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate student orientation and onboarding, including referrals for partner agency support as needed.
- Implement state approved testing and related/required assessment activities including monitoring for post-testing and /or coordinating instructor administration of assessments.
- Taking/making phone calls for recruitment/transition, reviewing student future goals, coordinating incoming and outgoing information, meeting with students as needed.
- Visit each class (in-person and virtual) at least monthly to determine needs of students/instructors in terms of assessments, Pathful, resumes, job/training assistance and other observation topics as assigned by the Director and reporting recommendations to the Director.
- Provide all enrolled students an opportunity to exit Adult Ed with a viable resume and a plan for the future, including referral for additional employment and training support and guidance.
- Coordinate with the Adult Ed team to development/support outreach, marketing, and social media strategies as approved by Director.
- Coordinate with the Adult Ed team to increase the range of outreach for donations and to determine the types of donations/locations/contests that would best serve students as rewards and motivation. Acknowledgement process to be developed and followed.
- Maintain a work schedule that meets the needs of Adult Ed, its students and partners including participation in workshops, meetings and related events.
- Ensure a clear understanding and compliance with policies, State and grant requirements that fund this position.
- Perform general clerical and office functions including emailing, copying, faxing, scanning, recordkeeping, filing, and data entry into various reporting systems, including MAERS.
- Submit payroll and provide back-up support of other administrative functions when requested.
- Maintain a positive and professional demeanor.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS (If Applicable):
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
Required
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years more progressively responsible or expansive experience in a clerical, administrative support, or accounting field.
Desired
- Possession of an Associates Degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
- Three or more years experience working in a school and/or educational setting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Demonstrate knowledge of State and grant requirements.
- Use a variety of software programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel, MSDS, SMART, Parchment, STUREC, DRC and google drive.
- Analyze information and strategize effective solution.
- Attend educational workshops and trainings to increase and update skills.
- Skill with use of technology to implement work responsibilities.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with students.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with students, and internal staff.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate positive relationships with the Adult Education team, partners, students and community.
PHYSICAL EFFORT & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Standing/Walking/Bending/Stooping – Moderate, common to classroom environment
- Moderate physical strength, mobility and dexterity to perform the job tasks.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Position may require work evenings.
- Position requires the employee to provide his/her own transportation for job related travel.
