Eastport Health Care, Inc. is Hiring a Behavioral Health Patient Service Representative Near Machias, ME

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Title: Behavioral Health Patient Services Representative.
Position Category: Hourly/Non-exempt.
Supervisor: Behavioral Health Care Coordinator, RN.
Position Description:
Responsible for managing the daily operations associated with supporting a fast paced, multi-disciplinary integrated behavioral health clinical team providing mental health and psychiatric services.
All EHC employees are expected to engage and be active participants in quality improvement projects and efforts, risk identification and reporting, attend trainings and meetings as requested and contribute to overall team spirit and cooperation. Employee contributions in this regard are valued and necessary for the organization's successful care of our patients/clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily administrative support duties as assigned.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of client information as per EHC and State/Federal regulations.
  • Sort and open mail; maintain supply of stamps.
  • Maintain clean original forms in files and make copies as appropriate.
  • Answer phones in a courteous manner and route information to appropriate staff in writing, verbally, or electronically with EHR.
  • Triage telephone calls as indicate d.
  • Greet and check in of clients (5 -STEP EHR Process).
  • Obtain/update patient registration and demographics information at every patient visit (insurance, address, phone number, etc.).
  • Collect a copy or scan insurance cards into electronic system; review and verify patient insurance coverage. Call patient insurance to establish that services to be rendered are covered and if a prior authorization or referral is necessary.
  • Inform patients of cost of care, including co-pays, sliding fee scale and self -pay accounts. Collect payment from patient at time of visit and record each transaction into the system. Tally the receipts, make deposits to bank, and fax information to Eastport Business office.
  • Scheduling/rescheduling client appointments by request of the clinicians; block out schedules for vacations, holidays, and time-off; notify patients by phone or letter of rescheduled appointment dates.
  • Make daily reminder calls for next day appointments; documenting all applicable client encounters within the EHR.
  • Provide patient care service coordination as directed by clinical staff; i.e. referrals for ancillary
  • services.
  • Keep the reception area organized throughout the day to help make the day run as smooth as possible.
  • Organize, maintain and notify supervisor the need for general office supplies.
  • Participate in all required departmental staff meetings; EHC meetings or other meetings as directed.
  • At the end of the day, TOS/Reconcile and verify all collected funds. Review behavioral health schedules to make changes as directed; complete all unfinished tasks that must be done by the end of the day; empty recycle bins; lock windows and doors; cabinets and drawers; turn off PCs, TV, lights and machines; make sure patients are out of the building before you leave; secure the building.
  • Work as a team player (by treating everyone with the same respect) while having the ability to multi-task with all co-workers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Director. Be willing to step-in to assist staff as needed/directed.
  • Adhere to all Eastport Health Care Policies and Procedures; Federal and State regulations, and standards of best practice.
Minimum Entrance Requirements for Reception:
  • High school Diploma
  • Computer experience
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to function independently within a busy and fast paced multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work with other employees, patients, and the general public in a professional manner.
  • Prior experience in the health field desired but not essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Keyboard operation and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Walking/Standing/Bending/Kneeling/Squatting
  • Visual acuity for extended periods of monitor operation.
  • Ability to use interfaced communication devices (Electronic Medical Record, telephone, internet, etc.)
