Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties is Hiring a School-Based Occupational Therapy Assistant Near Youngstown, OH

Easterseals of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties is looking for an energetic and compassionate COTA to work part-time up to 29 hours per week to serve our clients and help to make a difference in a school-based environment.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

Provide occupational therapy services to children in the school setting under the direction of a registered occupational therapist (OTR).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (FUNCTIONS) INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

· Provide occupational therapy services to students by direct or consultation to address range or motion, sensory strategies and techniques, and fine and gross motor activities as related to IEP goals under the supervision of an OTR.

· Consult and collaborate with teachers and teams by suggesting ideas for classroom interventions.

· Completes documentation as required by assigned school district and in accordance with all Easterseals, and state and federal guidelines.

· Provides treatment to include a holistic approach that maintains the highest level of professional morals and ethics; compassion; knowledge and clinical reasoning.

· Continuously works to improve work environment and processes and demonstrates a patient and family-centered focus when considering/developing improvement solutions to work environment/processes.

· Meets and maintains clinical-specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures as required.

· Performs other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the school administrator may from time to time assign or delegate.

· Maintains knowledge of area of specialty, healthcare trends and practice and populations served.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Graduate of an accredited program with a degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Program; current Ohio licensure by Board of Occupational, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers; licensure in good standing.

EQUIPMENT USED/MACHINERY REQUIRED TO OPERATE:

· General office equipment inclusive of computers and applicable software programs.

· Adaptive equipment

· Orthotic/prosthetic equipment

· Cognitive, dexterity, perceptual or sensory evaluation or testing products

· Therapeutic balls or accessories

· Weight machines and equipment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

· Stands, walks, bends, squats, twists, and kneels frequently.

· Reaches overhead on occasion

· Lifts up to 20 pounds on occasion.

· Pushes/pulls up to 25 pounds occasionally.

· Manual dexterity is necessary.

· Good eye/hand coordination

· Visual and auditory acuity to perform essential functions.

· May be exposed to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt $28 - $32 an hour based on experience
