Eastern Sports Management is Hiring a Guest Experience Manager Near Hampton, VA

The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex (HVA) is the largest of its kind in Virginia. Purpose-built for competitive aquatics. This state-of-the-art facility was designed to host Mid-Atlantic and national competitive swimming and diving events, artistic swimming, water polo, and more. Spectator seating for 1,500 overlook the eight-lane, 50-meter pool with two moveable bulkheads. Seating for 760 athletes occupies the wide, spacious pool decks for the smoothest of swim and dive event execution. Swimmer warm-up and warm-down is a breeze in the eight-lane, 25-yard programming pool, and nearby multi-purpose rooms provide space for event staging and hospitable functionality. A culinary center with two purchase points ensures spectators never miss an exciting moment.

The HVA is managed by Eastern Sports Management (ESM) based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. ESM’s management portfolio consists of venues in Virginia, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee.

The Hampton Virginia Aquaplex is currently accepting applications for Guest Experience Manager. The Guest Experience Manager will lead and manage the front desk staff and all activity at the front desk. The Guest Experience Manager will ensure the Front Desk staff is trained in aggressive customer service and conflict resolution (HEART model). Additionally, the Guest Experience Manager will lead and manage the Youth Programs department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage Front Desk Staff (e.g. interview, hire, train, schedule, direct work, etc.)
  • Manage Youth Programs (camps, parties, etc.)
  • Provide coaching/counseling and/or disciplinary action to subordinates as necessary
  • Respond to inquiries about programs
  • Provide prospective clients with an enthusiastic and informative tour of the facility
  • Ensure the front desk staff completes all required transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Assist with the distribution of passes, fliers, and other materials to create traffic flow of guests
  • Ensure all information presented at the front is accurate
  • Attend required meetings, training, and other scheduled activities
  • Ensure department schedules are prepared and shifts are adequately covered for expected business levels
  • Provide sales support when necessary
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed, required, or assigned by the General Manager or other director(s).
  • No specific education requirement. High School diploma, GED, or higher is preferred
  • Ability to communicate (e.g. read, write, speak, etc.) in English is required. Ability to communicate in other languages is preferred
  • Must be professional in demeanor and communication
  • Must have demonstrated excellent customer service skill
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must have demonstrated outstanding organizational skill
  • Must be able to prioritize and shift priorities as necessary with conditions
  • Must be able to set and meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to use a standard workstation (desktop, laptop, tablet, etc) to perform duties
  • Proficiency in Google suite is preferred
  • Proficiency in DaySmart is preferred
  • Ability to work together with all departments as a team
  • Ability to maintain focus in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work under pressure and be decisive
  • Ability to resolve difficult situations

ENVIRONMENTAL SETTING

The Guest Experience Manager will normally work in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. Occasional exposure to outside ambient conditions may be required.
