Located in Stafford Virginia, the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sports Center (JRSSC) is a state-of-the-art 76,000 square foot facility that houses a 50-meter competition pool with movable bulkhead and seating for over 800 spectators, a 25-yard recreation pool, a warm-water wellness pool, a group exercise studio, fitness floor, a full-size basketball court, and a full-service cafe to serve guests.

JRSSC offers cycling, a variety of group exercise classes, swimming lessons, and lifeguarding. The center offers league play for adults in volleyball, basketball, Lil’ Kickers soccer for children 18 months- 9 years, summer camps, clinics, classes, a J-Club kids’ area for all those active kids ages 10 weeks -12 years old.

The Jeff Rouse Swim and Sports Center is managed by Eastern Sports Management (ESM) based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. ESM’s management portfolio consists of venues in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

The Jeff Rouse Swim & Sports Center is currently accepting applications for General Manager.

The General Manager is accountable for the success of the facility measured by growth and profitability. It is the general manager’s responsibility to ensure strategic goals are met by setting operational policies, creating and maintaining budgets, managing employees, and more. Our desired candidate is an adept leader with a strong business mind and a knack for organization, collaboration, and team member development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure plans for daily activities are developed and executed.
• Analyze performance and financial data to measure growth and profitability.
• Ensure each department is properly staffed and trained.
• Ensure the physical plant exceeds guest expectations (e.g. cleanliness, aesthetics, systems)
• Monitor budget
• Coordinates with other departments (e.g. human resources, finance, sales/marketing) to ensure the property is able to achieve its goals
• Ensure departments are contributing efficiently to the overall goals of the property.
• Ensure annual budgets are submitted in accordance with company policy.
• Responsible for the conduct of all property employees.
• Ensures appropriate disciplinary action is taken when required.
• Performs other related duties as required by the corporate office.

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or combination of formal/informal and related field required.
• Five years of related experience required.
• Must be able to work irregular shifts to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Experience in conducting performance evaluations is preferred.
Working knowledge of human-resources processes is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The General Manager normally performs their duties in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment. Occasional exposure to ambient outside weather conditions is required when performing daily inspections of the property and grounds.
