Eastern Shipbuilding Group is Hiring an Electrical QA 1/C Near Panama, FL

Purpose

Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor perform in-process and final inspections on government shipbuilding projects. Interact with the Company’s Project Construction Team members, subcontractors, government representatives and ABS representatives. In this position, much of your time spent during the day will be on the deck plates accomplishing electrical QA inspections and validations with Production personnel.

Functions

  • Witness and document in-process and final inspections for electrical equipment installation and testing, this will include but not be limited to Banding, Terminations, Wire Runs, Insulation Resistance, Ring Outs, Operational Tests, Voltage Checks, Torqueing, Material Verifications, Packing, Penetrations, etc.
  • Ensure equipment being used to verify installation and testing is calibrated.
  • Conduct daily surveillances to ensure compliance to contract requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical checkpoints and/or inspections with USCG and ABS as needed
  • Responsible for documenting and reporting deficient work that does not comply with contract specifications, ESG QMS, drawings, and shipbuilding standards.
  • Interface with Ship Superintendents, Production, ABS, Outfitting Coordinators, Project Management and Customer Representatives.
  • Assist OPC QA Manager in developing Process Control Procedures (PCPs), and QA Test and Inspection Plans (TIPs) as needed.
  • Assist in getting Corrective Action Requests (CARs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) addressed and closed out.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Support Dock Trials (DT), Builders Trials (BT) and Acceptance Trials (AT).
  • Assist in obtaining technical support for electrical if needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the OPC QA Manager or OPC QA Supervisor
  • Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Education/Experience: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 5 years of work experience performing electrical installation or testing. A degree in electronics with 1 year of experience would be considered.

Required

  • Must have experience with electrical installation and testing.
  • Strong writing and computer aptitude/skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.
  • Read and interprets drawings, government specifications, work specifications, Military specifications, ABS Naval Vessel Rules (NVR) and Steel Vessel Rules (SVR).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Desired

  • 5-plus years of electrical Quality Assurance or Quality Control in the maritime industry in new construction or repair.
  • Experience/Knowledge of IEEE, Government contracts and specifications highly. Experience as an electrician or engineer in the maritime industry.
  • Experience as an electrician in any field will be considered
  • Previous experience in Quality Control (QC) and/or QA.

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

  • Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night
  • Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place
  • Work surface is stable (flat)
