Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma is Hiring a Master Teacher Near Wyandotte, OK

Summary The Learning Center Master Teacher works under the direction of the Coordinator in directing the development and implementation of the classroom environment and the facilitation of cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and communication development of the children within the Program following local Tribal, and federal laws governing childhood learning within the grant requirements and provides supervision and mentorship to Assistant Teachers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Follows a curriculum and budget that meet established guidelines for the development and management of ESTO’s Children’s Learning Center

· Directs the development and implementation of the classroom environment in the facilitation of the cognitive, social-emotional, physical, language, and communication development of the children within the Program

· Provides supervision and mentorship to Assistant Teachers by modeling best practices in an inclusive setting based on the mission and philosophy of the center and in coordination with the Learning Center Coordinator

· Assist the Learning Center Coordinator with the development and implementation of a classroom plan for curriculum, individual child planning, and family communication, and along with the Assistant Teacher will provide daily instruction for students

· Actively participates in scheduled trainings, parent meetings, individual coaching sessions, and the development of a personal professional learning plan

· Collaborate with and support colleagues in achieving professional goals

· Meets professional expectations as outlined in the Learning Center Staff Handbook

· Represent the Tribe in a professional manner at all times, when working with Tribal members, in dealings with outside entities and situations with fellow employees

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directs the daily activities of the Teacher and Teacher Assistants either personally or through subordinates.

Education and/or Experience

· Occupational Child Care Competency Certificate, OR current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR current Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) credential, OR Certificate of Mastery in ECE/CD, OR 30 college credit hours including at least 15 college credit hours in ECE/CD, OR 4-year degree including 6 college credit hours in ED/CD, OR 2 or 4 year degree in ECE/CD, OR valid teaching certificate in early childhood education from the Oklahoma State Department of Education

· Experience working with a Native American tribe preferred

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Right Track Database software; Excel Spreadsheet software; Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· Must be at least 18 years of age

· Current Driver's License

Other Qualifications

· Ability to handle highly sensitive information in such a way as to ensure confidentiality. If confidential information is shared, it is grounds for immediate termination.

· Willing to assist in organizing and participate in sponsored ESTO activities, and be accepting of/and willing to learn Native American culture and tradition.

· Excellent communication, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent software skills including Word, Excel, Microix, and Outlook.

· High aptitude to learn additional software.

· Demonstrated strong organization and prioritization skills.

· Demonstrated work ethic, integrity, and professional conduct.

· Displayed ability to lead and contribute in a team environment.

· Ability to work in a hectic, fast-paced environment and handle deadlines and frequent interruption.

· Must be able to pass adjudicated background check

· Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test

· Must have favorable verifiable employment history and references
