College and Area Information:
Eastern Arizona College’s District Offices are located in Thatcher, Arizona, a beautiful rural area with easy access to arid
as well as mountainous recreation. The College is located approximately 125 miles northeast of Tucson and 165 miles
southeast of Phoenix. EAC is a comprehensive community college offering five associate degrees across nearly 50
programs of study. Eastern Arizona College is the oldest member of the Arizona Community College system and is fully
accredited by The Higher Learning Commission.
Position Summary and Organizational Relationship:
The Diesel Technology Instructor works in the ITE department and reports to the Dean of Business, Computers & ITE.
Required Qualifications:
Required qualifications to effectively perform job. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be
considered.

• Minimum five years recent occupational experience in diesel mechanics or an appropriate related field.
• Ability to teach Diesel Technology courses in intensive occupational certification program.
• Ability to relate well to students from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to utilize computer programs as tools for communication, record keeping, supplemental instruction, and

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10 years recent occupational experience in diesel mechanics or an appropriate related field.
• Appropriate industrial certification(s).
• Experience in the mining industry.
• A clear understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and goals.

Essential Functions:

• Adhere to a work schedule determined by college contract.
• Teach to proficiencies in the diesel technology industry and provide flexible learning opportunities in support of

complete training and other assignments as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Proficiency in diesel engine systems, including fuel systems, electrical systems, emissions control systems, and

Compensation and Position Availability:
The initial position compensation range is $51,807-$74,010 (exempt) per current salary schedule plus a cash flex benefit.
The position also includes excellent employee benefits. The anticipated position start date is August 12, 2024.
