Easter Seals North Georgia is Hiring an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist - N/E (Part-time) Near Winder, GA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

Fundamental: Day to Day

 Ensures the timely completion of screenings, referrals, evaluations and treatment of children related to the Early Childhood Mental Health Program.

 Implements a planning system that provides strategies to meet the social/emotional needs of children in the Easter Seals Early Education and Care Program

 Provides training and technical assistance to preschool teachers on classroom management and effectively handling behavioral issues including development of behavior support plans

 Provides and coordinates parenting groups for parents of children in need of enhanced social/emotional development

 Provides on-site consultation to Center Managers, Family Support Advocates, parents, and teaching staff as it relates to the identification, treatment and inclusion of children with social/emotional needs.

 Participates in IEP/IFSP, regular staffing, and other meetings as needed.

 Collaborates with LEA, private psychologists, and other child and adolescent community mental health providers

 Maintains a record keeping/reporting system for the delivery and monitoring of services for children served by the Mental Health Program.

 Participates on organizational monitoring team as needed.

 Participates in all mandatory Easter Seals trainings to include pre-service, in-service and other educational programs and trainings.

 Maintain current licensing requirements as required by state law.

 Maintains case load of 4-6 families for general mental health counseling services including but not limited to Play Therapy, Family Therapy and or Child Parent Psychotherapy

  •  ECMHS work with young children 0-5 and their families as well as teachers and staff in Early Childhood Education centers. 
  • ECMHS services are provided in Early Childhood classrooms; family homes and in the clinic.
  • The ECMHC will also collect data, maintain records, and support compliance in all facets of Head Start Performance Standards and State regulations.

Physical Requirements 

 The ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
 The ability to sit for sustained periods of time.
 The ability to walk for sustained periods of time including responding quickly to safety concerns
 The ability to use hands and fingers to feel, operate a computer, and perform picking, pinching and whole
hand or arm handling tasks.
 The ability to climb stairs.
 The ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, sit on the floor, or crawl as needed when working with small children
on their level.
 The ability to reach, extending arms in any direction.
 The ability to push or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
 The ability to lift and carry a child up to age 5
 The ability to talk in order to accurately exchange information.
 The ability to hear in order to accurately exchange information.
 The ability to see clearly in order to maintain child safety and supervision, use a computer, and for
extensive reading and writing.
 The ability to work in both indoor conditions and outdoor conditions.

OTHER DUTIES:

Performs other duties assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

APC, LPC, LCSW, LMFT
Preferred 3 years’ experience in Early Childhood Mental Health and/or Registered Play Therapist
Preferred completion of CPP Child Parent Psychotherapy
Will except professional in process of acquiring licensure

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the assigned functions responsibly.
 Must possess effective communication skills.
 Must possess ability to manage time effectively.
 Must possess the ability to establish working relationships within the community.
 Must possess the ability to operate a business computer.
 Must possess the ability to travel to all Easter Seals Child Development Centers.
