Job Location: East Side Neighborhood Service - Minneapolis, MN
Salary Range: $17.00 - $19.00 Hourly

Description

Job Posting for: Child CareTeacher

Location: Northeast Child Development Center (NECDC)

Reports to: Lead Teacher in classroom

Status: Full-Time, Hourly 40 hours per week 

Schedule: Monday-Friday / Hours depending on needs of program

Broad Scope and Function of Job:

Early Childhood teachers provides a warm and nurturing environment that meets the needs of each child in the center. They are responsible for the childrens health and safety at all times. They will plan and implement learning readiness skills and social experiences appropriate to the age level of the children. All teaching staff must adhere to ethical responsibilities to children, to families, to colleagues and to the community and society.

Responsibilities:

Classroom

  • Prepares weekly curriculum and diverse daily activities based on the needs of each child
  • Observes each child on a daily basis to develop individual child goals and child evaluations.
  • Plans and supervises daily activities that stimulate each childs development.
  • Sets the standard for positive role modeling using appropriate language.
  • Is responsible for the health and safety of all children.
  • Is responsible for maintaining staff to child ratios at all times.
  • Is responsible for completing required in-service training per DHS Rule 3, and contract parameters.
  • Is responsible for clean-up and general up keep of the center.
  • Recognizes dangers and takes immediate action to remove hazards.
  • Is responsible for the arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom.
  • Develops an on-going rapport with parents to ensure that family needs and concerns are considered, and a partnership is developed between home and school.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Reports information to Director/Assistant Director any changes from families.
  • Provides clients with daily information regarding their childs day (verbally and in writing).
  • Conducts Parent/Teacher conferences.
  • Maintains daily contact with parents via phone calls or daily notes.

Administration

  • Responsible for keeping records of curriculum, attendance, medical forms, accident reports and other group records. Maintains anecdotal records on children.
  • Participates in assigned meetings. Attends client meetings and community functions as requested by Director.
  • Attends work related training sessions, workshops, conferences, etc. as required by DHS Rule 3 or requested by the Director to improve skills and competence on the job.

Qualifications


Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum Education and Experience: (Must have both listed below)

  • MN Technical Institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant
  • Experience: 2080 hours as an assistant teacher
  • 6 quarter credits

Experience:

Two years previous experience working with children in a group setting.

Other:

CPR and First Aid Certified Required

Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, bend at the waist frequently and lift up to 40lbs frequently, up to 60 lbs occasionally.

Compensation: $17 -$19 / hour
