Job Details Job Location Camp Bovey - Gordon, WI Position Type Seasonal Education Level High School Salary Range $50.00 - $50.00 Hourly Travel Percentage Negligible Job Shift Any Job Category Education Description Job Posting for: Camp Nurse Location:Camp Bovey Residential Summer Camp in Gordon, WI Reports to: Camp Director Status: Seasonal, contracted, approximately 10 hours per week Program Schedule: Orientation during week of June 24-28, Camper sessions July 8 July 27 Broad Scope and Function of Job: The Camp Nurse oversees the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff during 3 weeks of camp programming. In addition, this position requires experience working with children in settings that may be new or uncomfortable. Must abide by Wisconsin Department of Health standards for medical storage and dispersal. Responsibilities:
Provide health care to meet individual needs of staff and campers including organize and disperse medication to campers and staff as needed throughout the day, respond to medical needs that arise, and implement strategies to prevent injury and illness during camp sessions.
Manage, store, and distribute medications (both Rx and over the counter). Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp.
Contribute to the emotional and mental well-being of campers and staff.
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state standards.
Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources and medical equipment for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff.
Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies.
Prepare, distribute, and first aid kits throughout camp including camp vehicles, kitchen, offices, waterfront, activity areas, out-of-camp trips.
Qualifications Qualifications :
Required: Registered Nurse (RN)
Possess current professional CPR/First Aid/AED certification
Possess current med-passing certificate
Documented work experience for a minimum of 3 months using required certifications
Three years of work experience beyond high school
Documented experience with both children and adult illness/injury care
Equipped to handle medical needs typical in camp settings independently or sufficiently until advanced medical care (15 minutes away) can arrive.
Knowledge and experience managing outdoor related medical issues (dehydration, heat exhaustion, joint/ligament damage, poison ivy, minor burns, tick removal, swimmer's ear, etc.)
Ability to read and follow directions on medication labels, health forms, physician orders, and parent letters.
Previous camp experience (preferred)
Experience working with diverse youth who may not need physical medical attention, but mental/emotional support (preferred)
