East Hartford High School Program Leader – Behavior & Intervention Coordinator Responsibilities
Collaborate with school administration to develop programs to reduce use of in-school suspensions, out-of-school suspensions, and other exclusionary discipline practices
Build knowledge and skill among key school professionals to recognize and manage behavioral health crisis in the school, and access needed community resources
Create a system to link youth who are at-risk of arrest to appropriate school and community-based services and supports
SPECIFIC EAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Oversight of EHHS intervention programs: Academic Resource Centers, In-School Suspension, Behavior Intervention Recovery, Detention Programs (House and Extended)
Monitor, the collection and quarterly reports of Academic Resource Centers, In-School Suspension, Behavior Intervention Recovery, Detention Programs (House and Extended)
Monitor, implement and ensure Mediations & Restorative Practices & Reintegration Program are completed with fidelity
Participation in any and all trainings related to the School-Based Diversion Initiative (SBDI)
Coordinate and follow through with SRO’s regarding any Juvenile Review Board (JRB) referrals including referrals for mental health and juvenile justice
Participate in Home Visits as needed to improve relationships with multiple offender students and families
Supervise, coordinate and train administrators and staff in the early intervention of behavioral issues and de-escalation of student in crisis
Facilitate in obtaining resources related to the flow of students removed from the class or school
Serve as a District Liaison to the community collaboratives – attend meetings as needed
Work closely with all school, families, and community supports to improve access to mental health services and supports
Work with key collaborators to ensure school disciplinary policies align with diversion values, including a graduated response model for school discipline
Communicate policies and protocols to families, community and staff
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee
Stipend: EHEA B-1 Program Leader
The actions of this employee in relation to this position are completed beyond the regular teacher work day.
