Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field;
Minimum of two years experience in child care, education, public administration or early childhood education;
Effective communication skills required – including written, verbal and conflict resolution;
Ability to work with parents, state agencies, school district personnel, and community agencies;
Ability to work in a diverse workplace with diverse families and needs;
Bilingual (Spanish) strongly preferred;
Strong organizational skills;
Effective problem solving skills;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
Strong managerial skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and run programs;
Proficient computer skills and ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite products and an ability to learn and work with multiple databases;
Experience writing and managing grants preferred;

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor – Family Resource Centers JOB GOAL: The FRC/Family Engagement Coordinator will develop relationships with children and families to recruit them to participate in school-based programs facilitated by this position. This position will visit homes of current and potential students, distribute information about their assigned school and/or district programs and assist in the enrollment process. The Coordinator will keep records of involvement and help cultivate parental interest in their children’s school and activities. The Coordinator will also work with the Office of Family & Community Partnerships to identify and deliver programming for parents. PERFORMANCE RESPOSIBILITIES:
Work with the principal to create a welcoming school environment
Understand class and cultural backgrounds of families
Think and act in ways that respect ethnic, cultural, and language diversity
Communicate successfully with teachers, families, administrators and students
Facilitate communication and the exchange of information between the school and family regarding student progress, school-wide goals, and support activities
Encourage family members to take a deep and meaningful involvement in the regular activities of the school and recruit them for participation in special programs
Assist students, staff, teachers, parents, and community members (e.g. applications for services, transporting parents/students, interpreting technical information, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or conveying information and other services required by parents or teachers
Coordinate programs, assigned activities, and components (e.g. home visits, parent meetings, parent/volunteer involvement programs, community involvement processes, etc.) for the purpose of gaining information enhancing student achievement and/or discussing needs and problems involving students and their families
Attend Partners in Achievement trainings and deliver turn-key educational workshops and programs to families
Facilitate volunteering opportunities for parents and community members
Raise parent awareness of academic standards and standardized testing
Assist in coordinating with community leaders and organizations for the purpose of building resources and expanding school-based program capabilities to assist families
Write press releases and create and distribute monthly newsletter
Provide supervision to program personnel assigned to FRC
Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends as appropriate
Attend state meetings as directed by the Supervisor of Family Resource Centers
Provide reflective supervision to parent educators
Conduct staff meetings on a regular basis
Prepare state reports as appropriate
Coordinate with Program Director to oversee FRC budgets and grant requirements and prepare and present reports regarding the same
Support the development and maintenance of a district-wide school-family community partnership team
Organize and facilitate a local advisory board
Order supplies and refreshments as appropriate
Follow Board of Education policies and regulations
Perform other duties and functions as may be determined by the Coordinator of the Office of Family and Community Partnerships, Supervisor of Family Resource Centers, and/or Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary, non-bargaining employee. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
