East County Urgent Care is Hiring a Limited X-Ray Technician / Medical Assistant Near El Cajon, CA

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant/X-Ray Technician will provide supplemental nursing care, in conjunction with/under the supervisor. They will attain accurate radiological images as requested by the physician while maintaining a safe encounter for the patient, the staff, and themselves. The X-Ray Tech/MA will also assist the professional staff in applying casts, braces/splints, bandaging, and other procedures needed for patients.

Reports to:

  • Directly to the Operations Manager and Clinical Director
  • Partners and Medical Professionals have indirect oversight as well

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • X-Ray license for the state of California
  • Must have current BLS certification.

Responsibilities: Medical Assistant/Limited X-Ray Tech duties will consist of, but not be limited to;

  • Show to work on time with a clean and presentable appearance.
  • Perform x-rays producing accurate quality images as requested by medical provider.
  • Assure proper loading into PACS
  • Wears/utilizes film badge and turns in/replaces monthly per the standard
  • Make copies of patient’s films as requested
  • Follow all state and federal compliance standards required
  • Assist in the general maintenance of the x-ray machine and its components
  • Assure any necessary reports are readily available to accompany the patient during their visit
  • Proctor students
  • Assist the treating professional during the patient encounter
  • Casts, splints, and braces a patient according to the request of the evaluative medical professional
  • Assist with general medical procedures including, but not limited to, bandaging, casting, donning and doffing braces, suture/staple removal under the guidance of the treating professional
  • Able to assist with custom brace/orthotic measurements
  • Acquires any needed information from the patient’s electronic medical record.
  • Assisting with the ordering of supplies and managing storage of them.
  • Work with other staff members in a collaborative manner
  • Assist with the answering of phones, taking messages, and scheduling as needed
  • Maintaining a clean environment including shared cleaning duties.
  • Maintain HIPPA Compliance
  • Prepare patients for surgery.
  • Bring patient to admitting area, communicate proper procedural dress to patient, assist patient with placing belongings in patient belonging bag, help tie gown or place socks on patient’s feet, bring blanket to patient and ensure patient is as comfortable as possible in pre-op.
  • Assist patient in standing or dressing after procedure if needed.
  • Move gurneys and chairs as needed to maintain surgery schedule and patient flow. Required to obtain assistance when moving patients unable to assist in moving themselves unless patient is in wheelchair or on a gurney.
  • Will be required to push patients in wheelchairs or on a gurney.
  • Walk patients out to car.
  • Prepare and maintain instruments and supplies for treatments.
  • Operate sterilizers according to manufacturer’s guidelines and following proper procedures. Label and documents all forms, stickers, charts, graphs, etc. that are involved in l sterilization and quality assurance according to policy.
  • Assist with turnover and cleaning of treatment rooms.
  • Preventative maintenance and logs on equipment, as directed by the manager.
  • Adhere to regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Attend required staff meetings and in-services.
  • Meets the needs of services as demanded by the surgical schedule, particularly when overtime hours and time changes become necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills Required:

  • Able to take appropriate x-rays based on medical provider’s request
  • Able to dress wounds, apply cast/splint/brace as directed by medical provider
  • Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
  • Ability to problem solve for good outcomes
  • Strong computer skills including:
  • Microsoft Office
  • EMR/HER/PACS
  • Practice management/Appointment schedules
  • Scanning
  • Printing
  • Copying of files and CD’s
  • Familiarity with medical legal needs within a medical office
  • Data Entry
  • Good understanding of anatomical terms and orthopedic injuries
  • Belief that their efforts are an important piece to the patient experience.
  • Has full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess the physical ability and perceptive acuity (e.g. visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect care functions.
  • May be expected to life twenty-five pounds without assistance. Is required to obtain assistance when moving patients unable to assist in moving unless patient is in a wheelchair or on gurney. May be required to push patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys. Will be expected to obtain assistance when needed.
  • Excellent communication: verbal, non-verbal, written
  • Good interpersonal skills

Pay: $32.00 - $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 29 – 40 per week
