East Central Independent School District is Hiring a High School Associate Principal Near San Antonio, TX

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Direct and manage assigned areas instructional program and campus operations. Oversee assigned student activities and services.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations; coordinate assigned student activities and services.
  • Manage the use of school facilities and supervise maintenance of these facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly campus.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the student Code of Conduct and the student handbook.
  • Conduct conferences about school issues with parents, students, and staff.
  • Demonstrate professional, ethical, and responsible behavior; serve as a role model for all campus staff.
  • Promote the mission and vision of the school.
  • Provide instructional leadership.
  • Communicate and promote high expectations for staff and student performance.
  • Assist with the supervision of specific departments’ initiatives.
  • Assist in the professional development of staff.
  • Supervise students on campus, before school and after school, and at lunch.
  • Assume responsibility for specific job functions as assigned by the campus principal.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs.
  • Promote a positive, caring climate for learning.
  • Communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
  • Serve as campus liaison with law enforcement agencies.
  • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
  • Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff.
  • Supervise operations in the principal’s absence.
  • Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedules.
  • Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigations.
  • Work with the department head/lead teachers and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needs.
  • Assist with safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  • Coordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  • Coordinate DAEP placements with student services.
  • Ensure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods.
  • Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior.
  • Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.
  • Conduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Articulate the school’s mission to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
  • Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
  • Adhere to the district safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific worksite assigned (classroom or office setting).
  • Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal; supervise Assistant Principals, teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, and clerical personnel, and others as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
Master’s degree
Texas Principal’s certificate or the other appropriate Texas certificate
Certified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiser
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Prior teaching and administrative experience
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
East Central experience preferred
EQUIPMENT USED: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Protracted and irregular hours of work; prolonged walking, sitting, standing. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior. May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather, exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel.

Pay: $390.20 - $475.02 per day
