East Carolina University is Hiring a Processor Near Greenville, SC

Overview

The Undergraduate Admissions Office is responsible for identifying, recruiting and enrolling students in sufficient numbers to meet the University’s enrollment projections while improving the quality of the student population.

The office processes approximately 26, applications yearly, including freshman, transfer, second degree, visitors, readmits and non-degree adult learners.

In order to generate applications from these individuals, the office is involved in many public relations activities which produce thousands of inquires for additional information and for applications.

The Admissions Office’s activities are performed by a staff which includes a substantial operations / processing staff, receptionists / secretaries, as well as counselors, assistant directors, associate directors, senior associate directors, and director.

Job Duties Percentage Of Total Time : 40

Information / Records Administration : Coordinates all electronic admissions data for all Freshman, Transfer, Readmit, Second Degree and Non-Traditional applications.

This data can include application form, application fee, high school transcript, test scores (SAT, ACT, TOEFL, AP, CLEP, etc) college transcripts, military transcripts (DANTES, DD, etc) for use in rendering admissions.

Verifies all data for accuracy, authenticity and completeness. Applies knowledge of necessary data to determine admissibility to the university by reviewing the application for proper student type classification, appropriate fee has been received, all data entered into student database is present and correct, and said applicant has authorized and affirmed all information on application is truthful, correct and complete.

Reviews high school transcripts for Minimum Admission Requirements (MAR) and Minimum Course Requirements (MCR) set by the General Administration of the UNC system.

Reviews test scores (SAT, ACT, AP) for appropriate authenticity and required minimum scores for admission. Applies knowledge of transfer articulation to transfer course work including Advanced Placement (AP) credit, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES), Military and International specialty credit.

Applies all academic rules set forth by the undergraduate course catalog for East Carolina University for all returning student applications (Readmits, Second Degrees etc).

Approximately 15, plus admission decision are determined yearly under continuous and urgent deadlines.This position will be committing ECU to admission decisions based upon established criteria from the Director of Admissions.

Periodic review will take place during training, but decision processing will be completed independently by the processor.

Exceptions to decisions not meeting established criteria are only made with approval from the senior leadership team. Individual must be able to adapt and learn new skills, computer technologies and procedures in order to efficiently accomplish the tasks assigned by the admissions office.

Percentage Of Total Time : 25

Knowledge / Program : Thorough understanding of policies and procedures regarding university admissions standards including freshman, transfer and readmission.

Must possess the ability to calculate unweighted, weighted, and cumulative grade point averages by analyzing complex transcripts from high schools, colleges and universities and through electronic generation with Banner transfer articulation.

Knowledge of courses to satisfy Minimum Admission Requirements (MAR) and Minimum Course Requirements (MCR) set by the General Administration of the UNC system.

Knowledge of the NC Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for review of transferable course credit. Ability to interpret and apply transfer course credit through the transfer articulation process.

Ability to interpret and compare multiple test scores for highest total score. Ability to add, update and modify transfer data in the articulation tables, which store course equivalency information.

Ability to add, update and modify new transfer institution as well as grade tables to the transfer module in Banner.

Problem Solving : Identifies problems and issues that occur within the admissions application process. Critical thinking and problem solving for potential solutions or improved functionality of the admissions process.

Analyzes data for accuracy and applies modification and updates to student records in student database. Understands all functions in student database used for admissions decisions and ability to modify any found issues.

Percentage Of Total Time : 15

Communication- Verbal / Written : Respond to student requests for information regarding application status received via email, phone or mail in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.

Ability to explain all aspects of the admission process for freshman, transfer, readmit, second degree and non-traditional and corresponding policies and procedures to prospective students, and current students, faculty and staff.

Consults with prospective students as well as campus colleagues on student admission status, as well as requirements that may not be complete for final review.

Manipulate course data in Banner, making the information available for viewing / printing purposes in self service Banner for students and advisors.

Upon completion of transfer articulation for appropriate courses, electronically rolls transfer data into academic history for CAPP availability.

Minimum Education / Experience High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
