East Boston Neighborhood Health Center is Hiring a Medical Assistant III- Resource (FT) Near Boston, MA
Medical Assistant III-Resource East Boston Full-Time This Resource Medical Assistant will be a joint position working as a float medical assistant and a Resource MA for both our Medical Assistant Education Program and the Director of Nursing. The position will include both clinical hours in various departments and administrative hours working with the program to mentor and coach the students enrolled. The RMA will also work in partnership with the MA Project Coordinator to anticipate and address any student concerns which could hinder their ability to succeed. Administrative responsibilities will also include helping department Resource MAs to manage clinical competencies for MAs and support the orientation of new medical assistants. The breakdown will be approximately 50% clinical and 50% administrative, but this could vary depending on the program needs. Responsibilities:
Meet daily to weekly with medical assistant students enrolled in the Medical Assistant Education program to coach and mentor. The goal is to support the students’ successful completion of the Bunker Hill Medical Assistant program.
Help to place students in EBNHC departments for clinical placement during their program. Work with each student to understand which department might be the best fit for their interests to promote retention after graduation.
Work with Director of Nursing to support the orientation process for new medical assistant hires and completion of required competencies
Work with program coordinator to help recruit and evaluate candidates for the program.
Prepares for assigned clinics and ensures all test results and instruments are available per department protocol. Be available to assist with their assigned providers. Communicates with them throughout the session
Responsible for facilitating effective team and patient communication throughout the visit
Assists with patient ambulating and transfers to/from chair, stretchers and exam table. Assists with undressing, gowning and dressing as needed.
Stocks exam rooms and utility rooms daily with medical supplies and forms needed.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Resource MA is expected to excel at all the essential duties and responsibilities of the Medical Assistant in addition to the ones listed below:
Responsible for evaluating and maintaining departmental workflows and adjusting as needed. Work collaboratively with the Resource Nurses alongside the Director of Nursing on promoting ongoing quality and implementation of new initiatives and workflows.
Manages the maintenance of all staff education materials
Orders and manages clinical supplies with Manager approval.
While the Resource Medical Assistant does not have supervisory responsibilities, they will; participate in interviewing applicants, provide feedback or hiring decisions, orient and provide ongoing training to MA's, provide feedback for performance evaluations
Education:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Graduation from a Certified Medical Assistant Program
BCLS certification (per department policy).
Bilingual skills preferred.
Experience:
Two years as a Medical Assistant
Skills & Abilities:
Meets medical assistant skill level with addition of demonstrated leadership ability.
