VACANCY NOTICE
POSITION TITLE: Parent Educator – Jumpstart Program (3 Positions)
BUILDING(S): Early Childhood Center
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9-1/3 months. Monday-Friday: 7 hours/day. Per
diem 150 hours (June-August) IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Jumpstart Program Supervisor or Designee EVALUATION PROCEDURES: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement START DATE: ASAP

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience or education in Early Childhood or Child Development.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a linguistically and culturally diverse community.
  • Provide vehicle (valid driver’s license, insurance, etc.).
Job Description / Responsibilities
  • Completion of Parents as Teachers (PAT) certification after date of hire.
  • Plan, prepare, travel and complete biweekly home visits with families implementing PAT curriculum.
  • Support program’s mission statement and promote school readiness.
  • Build and maintain rapport with families.
  • Complete required health and developmental screenings with children on caseload.
  • Identify and refer children for early intervention services.
  • Help families to identify literacy and family goals and work towards achieving those goals.
  • Provide appropriate child development information to families.
  • Demonstrate appropriate play activities for young children and model appropriate adult/child interactions.
  • Coordinate and facilitate bimonthly parent/child Interaction groups (on and off site).
  • Complete all required curriculum and file documentation.
  • Maintain clear, well-organized, and comprehensive written and electronic records.
  • Provide parents with community resource information and activities. Refer families when appropriate.
  • Recruit new families and promote the program at community events.
  • Complete monthly case consultation, reflective supervision, and group reflection requirements as outlined by PAT and ISBE.
  • Participate in preschool developmental screenings and meetings/functions.
  • Participate in building meetings as requested by supervisor or designee.
  • Exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices; follow and implement all district rules, regulations, practices, and policies.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality and personal flexibility in all areas.
  • Maintain professional competence by completing the recommended number of hours of professional development through in-service education activities provided by the East Aurora School District, ISBE, Prevention Initiative, Parents as Teachers, and local Early Childhood Collaborations.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the principal or designee.
