IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Building Principal or Designee

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Applicants must hold a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or
university and be properly certified to meet Illinois Teaching License Standards.
A Professional Educator License (PEL) with high school endorsement and
applicable content area endorsements required.
2. Works effectively and productively as a member of a team.
3. Five years teaching experience preferred.
4. Displays quality work through accuracy and attention to detail.
5. Committed to continuous improvement and data based decision-making to guide
instructional decisions.
6. Effective written, verbal and technology based communication skills.
7. Ability to work with a linguistically and culturally diverse public.
8. Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving
and receiving constructive feedback.
9. Strong instructional and pedagogical knowledge, and content expertise.
10. Demonstrates lifelong learning, and applies new learning to help all students
achieve.
11. Demonstrates evidence of professional growth, including leadership and
participation in professional development activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities
provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
2. Exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices; follow and
implement all district rules, regulations, practices and policies.
3. Continuously improve professional practices, model lifelong learning, and exhibit
leadership in the school and professional community.
4. Participate in / attend building and district meetings, as required.
5. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,
materials and facilities. Provides appropriate safety instruction.
6. Maintain a culture of high expectations.
7. Research, model, and teach current pedagogical practices in the content area.
8. Participate in Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) meetings.
9. Orient new faculty members to the district curriculum and pedagogical priorities.
10. Plan and facilitate professional development that is aligned to district goals,
District Improvement Plan, and School Improvement Plans.
11. Conduct a model demonstration classroom that is open to all colleagues.
12. Provide instructional coaching and mentoring for teachers.
13. Encourage membership and participation in professional organizations.
14. Acquire and share professional knowledge that is timely and relevant to the
districts vision.
15. Communicate instructional expectations.
16. Provide clear and consistent direction to staff on a continual basis.
17. Demonstrate collaborative leadership.
18. Model lessons in classrooms on a regular basis.
19. Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the Illinois
Learning Standards, district curriculum, assessments and data analysis.
20. Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
21. Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent
with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.
22. Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support
classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
23. Support teachers and administrators in using data to improve instruction on all
levels.
24. Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of
differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their
students.
25. Support teachers by helping with the – strategic how of teaching – share multiple
instructional strategies/processes with teachers during planning times.
26. Informally observe (non-evaluative) lessons and provide feedback for a teacher's
professional growth and students' success.
27. Develop staff members' knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a
variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
28. Develop coaching plans for teachers to ensure student improvement.
29. Attend summer training sessions as required.
30. Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be requested by the Principal
or designee.
