East Atlanta Eye Surgery Center is Hiring a Surgical Technician II Near Lawrenceville, GA

Position Summary

We are now hiring a Surgical Technician to assist surgeons by preparing, maintaining and anticipating instrument and procedural needs for all surgical procedures in accordance to regulatory standards.

This position is split between centralized sterilizing and OR needs. 

Responsibilities

• Obtaining supplies from other areas as needed• Returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate location• Assisting in keeping the Central Sterile area neat and orderly• Effecting handling health or safety hazards for self and patients• Reporting any unusual occurrences or incidents accurately to the Nurse Manager• Performing other duties as required

 The Surgical Technician will function under the general supervision and direction the Nurse Manager to facilitate the safe and effective surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. The Central Sterilization responsibilities include all aspects of sterile processing, decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterilization, sterile storage, and distribution of sterile medical devices according to the current AMMI and OSHA guidelines. Knowledge of AMMI/IAHCSMM documentation for sterile processes. 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Maintains current BCLS certification and completion of required annual in-services
  • Ability to work in a surgery center environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease under a moderate level of noise
  • Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy
  • Must be able to organize and set priority for work to be done
  • Possesses manual dexterity, mobility, visual acuity, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, attendance, and good interpersonal skills
  • Graduate from an accredited surgical technician and sterile processing program.
  • Completes required orientation as directed by facility.
  • Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment.
  • Follows facility protocol for unusual occurrences.
  • Respects cultural and religious practices of patients.
  • Upholds HIPPA regulations.
  • Punctual and dependable for assigned/confirmed shift.
  • Experience in ophthalmic surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge Alcon and Zeiss equipment preferred.
  • Ability to manually load lenses
  • Opthalmology experience preferred.
