Earth Systems, Inc. is Hiring a GIS Technician Near Denver, CO

We are looking for either a geologist, an environmental scientist, or an environmental engineer that has extensive GIS experience preparing technical reports and presentations that explain their research and findings for projects they are working on. You will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects, solve problems and overcome challenges in a position that encourages learning, growth, creativity, flexibility, and collaboration in a team environment. Candidates should have knowledge of your local environmental regulations, technical guidance, and risk assessments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Proficiency with GPS and GIS technologies to support technical field work and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in geological technology.
  • Contractor Oversight
  • Groundwater, soli, and air sampling
  • Site Inspections
  • Remediation System O&M
  • This position would require approximately 75% travel within North Dakota and surrounding states. The Bismarck office supports the oil exploration and production industry in the following areas: Environmental Engineering, Contamination Assessment and Remediation, Environmental Compliance, Property Transfer Assessments, and Permitting.
  • Act as the technical lead and provide technical advice and contribute to the development of conclusions and recommendations for assigned projects.
  • Develop and maintain department databases and informational resources.
  • Develop and maintain report templates to meet the requirements of industry protocols.
  • Remain up to date on industry practices and protocols.
  • Office tasks may include reviewing and interpreting data and preparing reports and work plans; client, subcontractor, and regulatory agency interaction; and developing and implementing remedial strategies.

Required Education and Certifications:

Highschool diploma with a minimum of 4 years of experience. A bachelor’s degree in environmental science/engineering/Geology or similar is a plus.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • GIS Certification
  • Must have a safe driving record and a valid Driver's License and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy.

  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • A diverse background in environmental site assessment, remediation, risk assessment, and field sampling (soils, groundwater, and surface water.)
  • Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities.
  • Independently problem solve and work autonomously with a sense of urgency.
  • Exceptional writing, grammatical and verbal communication skills.
  • Required knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (Microsoft Office and Adobe).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and SharePoint preferred.
  • Prior experience supporting Oil and Gas is a plus.
