Position Summary:The Program Assistant with planning, organizing, and implementation of education services for children.
This position assists in providing quality care in the program. It assists in implementing program policies
and procedures to provide a high-quality standard for the overall operation of the center. The Program
Assistant supports the Early Learning and Inclusion Director in general administrative functions to ensure
quality, safety, and all applicable local/state/federal program compliance.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:● Acts as Early Learning and Inclusion Director in Director's absence. Applies professional knowledge
to plan, implement, and supervise a comprehensive program that promotes positive growth and
development of all children..
● Acts as the closing or opening administrator
● Acts as the classroom teacher in the absence of a teacher, planning and implementing the
developmentally appropriate curriculum and best practices.
● Supports the functions of this position with a understanding of the DRDP, CLASS, Creative
Curriculum/Project Approach; and thorough knowledge and application of Developmentally
Appropriate Practices
● Responsible for the coordination of schedules to maintain appropriate classroom ratios based on
Missouri State Child Care Licensing.
● Supports the implementation of the Creative Curriculum, Conscious Discipline, and Project
Approach.
● Support and monitor classroom practices – classroom cleanliness, room arrangement, daily
schedules, routines, and transitions to assure their adherence to Head Start and program policies.
● Model the implementation of Conscious Discipline with all children and staff.
● Observes classroom activities, provides feedback, and inspect facilities for compliance with health,
safety, fire and other regulations.
● Support the Kitchen to ensure effectiveness of Family Style Dining in all classrooms and fill in
whenever necessary
● Support the Facilities Coordinator in ensuring the cleanliness of the building
● Support Family and Community Engagement (FCE) by participating in FCE events.

Minimum Qualifications● Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development; or a baccalaureate or
advanced degree in any field.
● At least 30 credit hours in early childhood education
● Experience teaching children aged 0-5 years old
● Experience in MOA/NAEYC
