Early Learning Coalition of Big Bend Region, Inc. is Hiring a Family Service Specialist (Gadsden County) Near Quincy, FL

Why We Need You

We are in the business of children! We are looking for a talented Family Services Specialist. This position is responsible for providing family support services, including School Readiness (SR) and Voluntary Pre-kindergarten (VPK). It also coordinates with the Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) Coordinator(s) to provide CCR&R services. This hands-on, high-volume position reports to the Family Services Manager.

Why We Are Excited to Meet You:

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree and 2 years’ experience in social/human services program administration required; or
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevant work experience in social/human services program required
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English & Spanish
  • Knowledge of School Readiness and VPK eligibility/processes is highly preferred
  • Demonstrative understanding of child care programs, early childhood education, social service issues, community action programs, and serving low-income communities required based on experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, web-based programs, and databases
  • Intermediate mathematical skills
  • Ability to adapt readily to change
  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including providing technical programmatic information to a non-technical audience
  • Ability to follow through on commitments, including deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness and ability to travel to county offices as needed
  • Ability to follow instructions and comply with and support the organization’s policies and procedures
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude and an example to others in the areas of problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal relationships, support of management decisions, and commitment to ELC’s mission and vision
  • Complete Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist (certification) evaluation within 90 days of hire

What You Will Do (Summary):

  • Maintain working knowledge of and adhere to all applicable rules, regulations, and ELC policies and procedures
  • Complete Child Care Resource and Referral Specialist evaluation (certification) within 90 days of hire
  • Provide comprehensive CCR&R services to customers
  • Determine customer eligibility for the SR and VPK programs
  • Complete specialized SR and VPK processes, as assigned
  • Participate as directed in all ELC quality improvement efforts to achieve optimum organizational performance including but not limited to data edit reports and peer review activities
  • Participate in a minimum of two ELC Outreach activities and/or events within the fiscal year
  • Report suspected fraud (internal and/or external) immediately via ELC established Fraud Reporting Procedure
  • Contact the Abuse Hotline immediately in the event an allegation of abuse, neglect, or exploitation is received

Salary Range:

$36,000 - $38,000

Benefits:

This is a full-time position that includes the following benefits: health insurance, dental, vision, flexible paid time off and holidays, life insurance, short-term and long-term, retirement savings plan (401K) loan forgiveness eligible employer, etc. Considered for hybrid work after successful completion of the probationary period.
