Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is Hiring a Special Projects Coordinator Near Durango, CO

The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is seeking a Special Projects Coordinator. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Special Projects Coordinator (SP Coord) is responsible for coordinating the activities of the La Plata Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan and Child Care Strategic Investment Plan process. In addition, the Special Projects Coordinator will coordinate the activities related to community implementation of the scope of work for the Community Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) grant through the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.

Job Title: Special Projects Coordinator (20-25 hours/week)

Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to

  • Coordinate the members of the Child Maltreatment Prevention workgroup to implement the activities of the CBCAP grant.
  • Partner with Child Maltreatment Prevention workgroup to ensure timely completion of data and report outcomes of grant activities.
  • Support the MOU and invoice reimbursement process for partner organizations.
  • Support an AmeriCorps volunteer or college intern to compile available data into a community profile.
  • Collect data and provide information on the supply of and demand for child care needs of families in La Plata County with children under 6 year of age.
  • Conduct in-depth interview with each child care provider in La Plata County to inform a county wide strategic plan
  • Educate partners and community on current children care needs and trends.
  • Participate in all required and relevant state wide early childhood coalitions, training opportunities related to CBCAP, Child Care Aware of America and other opportunities as recommended
  • Assist in the implementation and delivery of community outreach events to promote the La Plata Maltreatment Prevention Plan and Child Care Strategic Investment Plan, including media updates, event planning, and technical support to participants and presenters
  • Partner with local government and community partners to schedule and facilitate family and caregiver engagement activities, including but not limited to resource fairs, focus groups, etc.
  • Participate in relevant local and state meetings, and community planning sessions to support the on-going review and revisions of Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan and Child Care Strategic Investment Plan
  • Provide guidance to contractors to successfully conduct data and evaluation, website development and report publications related to activities of the Child Maltreatment Prevention Plan and Child Care Strategic Investment Plan

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree (AA) or equivalent in relevant field
  • Two years’ experience in non-profit administration
  • Experience with the local early childhood system, and interest in system level advocacy
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Google Suite and email
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to exhibit good judgement, professionalism and collaboration across diverse community partnerships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) speaker
  • Project management experience related to non-profit grant and government contracts
  • Bachelor degree (BA or BS) in relevant field
  • Experience with data and evaluation process
  • Experience with community advocacy, theory of change and/or strategic planning

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Part-time flexible schedule (20-25 hours per week)
