Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical procedures and services. Your role will involve working with medical records, insurance companies, and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.
Duties:
- Enter charges from progress notes in eCW (eClinical Works) encounter forms for physicians and nurses
- Gather surgery packets in documents and enter the charges for physicians
- Work with medical assistants with VA authorizations
- Work accounts receivable denials
-Contact insurance companies when necessary
- Upload/fax progress and operative notes when necessary
- Phone calls from patients with billing concerns
- Upload claim information in Worker's Compensation portal for submission
-Make corrections to demographic information and some insurance issues for claim to process
Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services using ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding systems.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies electronically or by paper.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure proper payment is received.
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation or clarification for billing purposes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and requirements.
Skills:
- Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing processes.
- Strong knowledge of medical collections, including insurance claim submission and follow-up.
- Familiarity with medical office systems and software.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
