About the Position:

Eagle Ridge Academy is seeking a motivated and self-starting Director of Athletics & Campus Supervisor that leads with integrity, will serve as a collaborative team member who inspires students and staff, and that develops high quality relationships within the educational environment. The Director of Athletics & Campus Supervisor is primarily responsible for providing support for the educational process by ensuring the school maintains a safe learning environment, assisting the Dean of Students with student discipline and attendance, and ensuring a high functioning athletic department. To this end, the Director of Athletics & Campus Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring that high expectations are consistently communicated and maintained. The Director of Athletics & Campus Supervisor will work with students, teachers, and parents to ensure a strong learning-based environment, centered around the culture, mission, and core values of the school.

Position will start on July 1, 2024 and will require some meetings and training in June.

Compensation:

  • Commensurate with experience and education
  • Starting at $60,000/year

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Director of Athletics Duties

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of the athletic department
  • Ensures high quality communication to parents, student, staff, and the community about the athletics programs including items such as programs available, registration, schedules, etc.
  • Creates a master budget and oversees all athletic purchases
    • Creates and executes an effective fundraising plan
  • Supervise and maintains all athletic related inventories.
  • Works with facility manager for scheduling, use of, and leasing of facilities
  • Prepare and maintains all athletic schedules. Ensures a contract is created for all athletic games per CHSAA policy.
  • Schedules all transportation needs for the school
  • Ensures scheduling of and hospitality for game officials. Ensures officials are paid in a timely manner.
  • Secure game workers for athletic contests, chain crews, announcers, clock operators, score keepers, line judges, etc. and approves pay in a timely manner.
  • Submit athletic expense request sheets for payment of officials and other workers to business manager in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the collection of rosters for program information as needed. Creates programs for athletic events.
  • Supervises all coaches for the athletic department.
    • Ensures all coaches complete necessary trainings and maintain necessary certifications
    • Ensures that every coach has an annual evaluation and post season conference
    • Leads the hiring process for coaches.
  • Supervises all home athletic contests.
    • Able to choose late arrival on game days or the day after games (arrive by lunch duty)
  • Mediate the resolution of problems, issues, and concerns that may arise
  • Provide for in-service and professional development of coaching staff as needed.
    • Start of Year meeting
    • Start of Season meeting
    • Provides an annual planning PD session for the upcoming school year
    • Seeks out PD opportunities for coaches.
  • Disseminate CHSAA materials and enforce CHSAA rules and regulations, including player eligibility.
  • Maintains and edits as necessary the ERA Athletic Handbook. Ensures parents and students have access to and are informed about the Athletic Handbook.
  • Ensure school adherence to all CHSAA and school policies, administrative rules, procedures, and codes relating to and participation in athletics.
  • Order Post season awards, letters, graduation cords and pins for each athletic program.
  • Attend athletic conference, CHSAA, and other athletic director meetings necessary to ensure an informed and thriving athletic program.

Campus Supervisor Duties

  • Supervises and monitors the campus and the school building in order to eliminate truancy and to prevent physical altercations, disagreements, dress code and other code of conduct violations as well as to maintain a safe environment.
    • Supervise lunches as part of a larger schedule. Ensures off campus privileges are utilized appropriately.
    • Establish positive rapport with students that is leveraged for school safety, academic success, and social emotional support.
    • Routinely walks campus and building to prevent property damage, provide security, and regulate unauthorized persons from being on campus.
  • Communicates with the Dean of Culture any violations of policy.
  • Assist with non-biased investigations by collecting statements and reviewing camera footage in coordination with the Dean of Culture.
    • Assist the Dean of Culture with student searches, drug dog searches, parking lot checks, and locker checks.
  • Meet with students as needed (weekly check in or as needed).
  • Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
  • Complete and utilize CPI training including performing physical intervention when needed (always as part of a team).
  • Maintain familiarity and uphold policies with Student/Parent Handbook as well as other school rules and regulations.
  • Takes care of low-level discipline issues and administers warnings to students
    • Refer/escort students to Dean of Students for disciplinary action when needed.
  • Supports Dean of Students with student attendance issues.
  • Works with the threat assessment team when necessary to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the school
  • Helps with supervision before, during, and after school.
  • Utilizes camera system when necessary for investigations.
  • Works to establish and maintain a positive growth-oriented culture which reflects our core values.
  • Collaborates with students, teachers, and parents to ensure that all students are successful in our academically rigorous setting.
  • Collaborates with parents to increase their engagement with the school
  • Communicates clearly and effectively
  • Works with Media Coordinator to ensure student, staff, parent, and community awareness
  • Supervision of student events and activities
  • Attends trainings as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualified Candidates must have:

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree
  2. A working knowledge of CHSAA rules and regulations or the ability to learn them quickly
  3. Additional knowledge or experience in education or a related field
  4. Good organizational and communication skills.
  5. The ability to handle many complex tasks simultaneously.
  6. The ability and interest to be part of a high-functioning team.
  7. The ability and interest to learn continuously and to adapt to changing circumstances.
  8. The ability to lead with our mission statement and core values at the forefront of all decisions

Preferred candidates will have all items listed under the “Qualified Candidates must have” section as well as:

  1. A Master’s Degree in Sport Management or other related field
  2. Teaching & Coaching experience or other relevant experience
  3. Strong knowledge of CHSAA policies and regulations
  4. 3 years working in K-12 Education.
