JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fire Alarm Technician tests, repairs, and inspects fire detection systems. He or she must provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis.
  • Completes all services following manufacturer instructions, related codes/standards, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Schedules inspections with customers as required.
  • Provides documentation of inspections for Company records, customer records, authorities with jurisdiction, and any other entity required.
  • Communicates discrepancies, necessary system repairs, and other important issues to the Company and the customer.
  • Follows up to ensure that suggested repairs to systems are performed.
  • Markets EFI services to existing and potential customers
  • Trains Technician Trainees as assigned.
  • Commits to work until obligations are met, which may result in overtime.
  • Completes continuing education necessary to maintain current certifications and/or licenses as required for position.
  • Adheres to ALL Company Standards and Procedures, including the Controlled Substances and Alcohol Standard

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, plus
  • 2 years of experience in fire protection systems, plus
  • Minimum Level II NICET certification in desired field required (or the ability to obtain Level II within the first 18 months of employment), OR
  • The equivalent combination of education and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education, experience, and certification as specified in the job description (or equivalent combination)
  • Has practical knowledge of fire protection codes and standards
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Positive and professional demeanor with the ability to handle change, resolve conflict, and solve problems as they arise with minimal direction
  • Able to lift and move objects weighing up to 100 pounds, work from heights above 10 feet, and work in confined areas
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and to lift, crouch, reach, handle, push, and pull
