Retail LP Store Detective Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Field Loss Prevention Detective to join our team. As a Field Loss Prevention Detective, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our company's assets by preventing theft and minimizing loss within our retail environments. You will be responsible for conducting surveillance, identifying suspicious behavior, and implementing loss prevention strategies. This position requires strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

Conduct routine surveillance of assigned retail locations to detect and deter theft and other suspicious activities.
Monitor store activity through CCTV systems and by patrolling sales floors discreetly.
Identify and apprehend individuals involved in theft or fraud.
Collaborate with store management and law enforcement when necessary to address security concerns.
Investigate incidents of theft or policy violations, including reviewing footage and gathering evidence.
Maintain detailed and accurate reports on all incidents and investigations.
Implement loss prevention techniques and strategies to minimize shrinkage and maximize profitability.
Educate store associates on theft prevention best practices and awareness.
Assist in training new staff on security protocols and procedures.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in loss prevention techniques.

Requirements:

1-3 years proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field preferred.
Strong observational and investigative skills.
Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in surveillance systems and other security technologies.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to theft and loss prevention.
Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods if necessary.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or education in criminal justice or related fields is a plus.
Clean driving record
