JOB SUMMARY

Our fast-growing telecommunications company is seeking a skilled and experienced Field Operations Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance. The candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks in the field.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables, connectors, and related equipment in the field.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of fiber optic cables using OTDRs, power meters, and other related equipment.
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to service requests from customers, diagnose and resolve technical issues, and escalate to appropriate parties when needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on fiber optic infrastructure and identify and report any potential issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any other relevant information.
  • Work closely with engineering and construction teams to plan and execute fiber optic network deployments.
  • Manage and maintain inventory of fiber optic equipment and tools.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with fiber optic equipment and network infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose technical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work on-call and outside of regular business hours as needed.
