DYTRAN INSTRUMENTS INC is Hiring a Quality Engineer Near Chatsworth, CA

Description

The Quality Engineer is the focal point of Dytran Manufacturing and customer satisfaction efforts. This role is hands-on manufacturing, maintaining the Quality system elements, and driving continuous improvement in an AS9100 and ISO 17025 registered and accredited environment.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates corrective action for customer complaints, supplier escapes, systemic rejection issues, and internal audits.
  • Acts as the first line of defense in handling customer product quality issues and documents responses with cause, containment, and preventive actions.
  • Leads root-cause teams on resolving quality issues; facilitates root-cause analysis and failure analysis with 5 why, 8D, or cause and effect diagrams.
  • Generates supplier performance ratings and follows up on corrective actions and concerns.
  • Tracks aging of response to actions and progress of improvements.
  • Develops incoming inspection plans, in-process sampling, and final inspection methods and verification protocol.
  • Performs 1st articles with precision mechanical inspectors and end items with final inspectors.
  • Formats and presents monthly metrics for trends, conditions, yields, and regressions.
  • Perform quality assurance oversight function within development projects to ensure compliance to product requirement definition, design process, verification, validation, and configuration management.

  • Analyzes data, recommends corrective action and opportunities for improvements.
  • Completes customer survey including compliance matrix and clause flow down review.
  • Conducts internal audits of processes to the AS9100 and ISO 17025 QMS.
  • Monitor suppliers conduct supplier visits, audits, source inspections, and reviews.
  • Cross trains inspection staff for multiple flex inspections within the machine shop, welding, assembly, and calibration.

Requirements

  • Technical college degree (or equivalent) with three to five years of quality engineering experience or ten years of quality engineering experience without a degree.
  • Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering a plus.
  • ASQ Certification is a plus.
  • Familiarization with AS9100 and ISO17025 practices is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical skills & ability to implement process control and statistical techniques.
  • Knowledgeable and skilled with metrology control, reliability, and failure analysis tools.
  • Able to lead task teams and organize root-cause analysis programs.
  • Experience writing and maintaining procedures in support of our quality system.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
  • Experience supplying new product development and release is highly preferred.
  • Must be a local candidate.
