Job Title: Senior Software Developer
Location: Chicago/Springfield, IL
Duration: 3 Years
Position Type: 40 hrs a week Contract

About this role:

Our Client's Software Solutions Department is dedicated to providing cutting-edge technological solutions to streamline and enhance various agency projects. We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of critical web-based systems for special education programs.

The Senior Software Developer will be responsible for providing expertise in developing and maintaining essential web-based systems, including the Special Education Approval and Reimbursement System (SEARS), Special Education Database Systems (SEDS), and the IEP - Student Tracking and Reporting (I-Star) System, along with other related agency projects. Working under the direction of Software Solutions management, the successful candidate will collaborate with project teams to plan, develop, support, and maintain various projects as determined and defined by management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain web-based systems, including SEARS, SEDS, I-Star System, and related agency projects.
  • Fully document work performed under the contract in Azure DevOps and with supplemental documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams to maintain backlogs in Azure DevOps with clearly defined user stories, tasks, and timelines.
  • Actively participate in all facets of the systems development life cycle.
  • Implement programming modifications to improve system performance, availability, and data quality.
  • Assist with the implementation of system enhancements/modifications to meet internal Agency needs and external stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates.
  • Provide accurate information for State and Federal reporting, internal data requests, and FOIA requests.
  • Continuously work towards simplifying and streamlining data collection and reporting processes.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Management, Management Information Systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of eight years of professional work experience in computer programming.
  • Eight years of hands-on full-stack developer experience with expertise in ASP.Net Core 3.x, ASP.Net Framework 4.x, Entity Framework, JavaScript (Vue, React, Angular), SQL Server, T-SQL, Visual Basic/C#, APIs, and Identity Server.
  • Eight years of experience as a full-stack developer on large-scale IT development projects, with at least two years at a senior level.
  • Four years of experience using Agile software development cycles leveraging TFS/Azure DevOps.
  • Five years of work experience in a senior developer role demonstrating expertise in developing for large-scale Special Education Programs.
  • Experience with Special Education Approval and Reimbursement systems, Special Education Private Facility management systems, and Special Education Dispute Resolution systems at a State Education Agency.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Compensation package:

  • 1099 contract
  • Hourly pay
