Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and documentation to ensure accurate coding and billing
- Assign appropriate medical codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and other coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and process claims for reimbursement
- Communicate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation and resolve billing discrepancies
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denied claims
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Medical Biller or in a similar role
- Knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures
- Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record systems
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
