DURHAM TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE is Hiring a Coordinator/Instructor, Mechatronics and Electrical Near Durham, NC

Description

Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring a Coordinator/Instructor of Mechatronics and Electrical in the Industrial Systems Technology Program. The Coordinator/Instructor of Mechatronics and Electrical will provide instruction in manufacturing areas, delivering lectures and lab sessions, maintaining student records, developing training programs, and assisting in communication with industry partners.

Examples of Duties

  • Offer instruction in areas of AC/DC Electricity, PLCs, Instrumentation, Hydraulics/Pneumatics, and other Manufacturing areas
  • Meet with classes for assigned hours and deliver relevant instruction in lecture and lab settings while maintaining accurate student records.
  • Collaborate with Director to determine training needs, and participate in developing and delivering training that meets those needs.
  • Participate in the development, analysis, and implementation of varying methods of course development and maintain records of student attendance and grades according to college and state policy and procedure.
  • Provide instruction for customized training for business and industry, and training support to other workforce programs as available.
  • Communicate course expectations to students in a consistent and understandable manner, e.g., by developing course outlines and syllabi.
  • Assist Directors & Deans in communicating with Manufacturing industry partners around offerings at the college and their engagement with the college.
  • Assist in maintenance of safe and orderly instructional spaces as needed, including manufacturing lab equipment. This includes training conducted at Durham Technical Community College and employer sites.
  • Must complete mandatory training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Systems or a related field with 2 years of teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical or a Manufacturing related field is preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Five years of experience in industrial or manufacturing operations, maintenance, safety, or continuous improvement is required.

Supplemental Information

  • Must have experience in the fundamentals of industrial controls, machining, electricity, mechanical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Must be able to read industrial schematics
  • Experience in troubleshooting industrial equipment typical to an industrial production environment
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, and hydraulics/pneumatic systems, electrical/electronic concepts and fundamentals, industrial robots, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and troubleshooting of automated equipment.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action.
  • Ability to make presentations to classroom audiences at an appropriate level.
  • Computer proficiency in desktop office applications.
  • Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.
  • Working knowledge of the business and industry community within Durham and Orange counties preferred.

Normal Working Hours:

A minimum of 40 hours a week as determined with the supervisor to allow the employee to fulfill the assigned duties and responsibilities, including occasional evening and weekend hours.
