We are looking to hire a School Nurse (Per Diem) with an ambitious and positive personality to join our team. The ideal candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The School Registered Nurse is supervised by the principal.
Position Summary: An experienced registered practical nurse who has an understanding and awareness of developmentally disabled and behaviorally challenged children and adolescents. Looking for someone who is flexible with their schedule and who has great interpersonal skills as they will be working closely with the School Principal, medical personnel and children with developmental disabilities.
Essential Functions:
The RN shall perform the following Services for Durand, Inc., at the school setting.
a) Review Medication Administration Record (MAR) for all individuals in the school.
b) Follow and maintain NJ DOE and NJ DOH standards.
c) Take calls from supervisors/staff when medical issues arise; Talk with doctors and/or advocate for the individuals’ medical needs.
d) Complete daily body checks.
e) Provide annual professional development on universal precautions.
f) Administer medications to students. Provide direct nursing care to students as needed.
g) Attend training for TherCoordinate workers’ compensation in absence of School Nurse.
h) Participate in any DOE or internal investigations, inquiries as needed.
i) Follows the New Jersey Department of Education School Health Services Guide for maintaining student health records and providing student health screenings.
j) Provides annual health assessment of students as needed to include:
k) Coordinates dental program for all students.
l) Coordinates vision screenings for all students.
Other Duties:
1. Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of professional development, instructional best practices, and organizational development.
2. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· NJ RN license; New Jersey Department of Education Substitute School Nurse preferred.
· Prefer 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
· Written and communication skills

· Ability to work under pressure
· Ability to provide accurate and effective care in stressful situations
· Ability to work independently.
· Must be knowledgeable with MS Office.
