POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Associate Director of Transfer Admissions manages all aspects of theundergraduate transfer admission and recruitment process, with a concentratedfocus on increasing the market share of transfer students. The associatedirector evaluates the market and initiates strategies to increase Duquesne'sundergraduate transfer student enrollment and retention, which can assist theUniversity with its goal to increase net tuition revenue. The associatedirector also provides leadership to the assistant director of transferadmissions in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Admissions and Recruitment.The associate director will oversee the travel schedule and strategicinitiatives for transfer recruitment.

DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Spearhead the recruitment and enrollment of transfer students bydeveloping and implementing an effective transfer student recruitment andmarketing plan that meets the strategic enrollment goals of the university. Analyzedata to determine which recruitment tactics and strategies are effective andwhich are not while creating new tactics to open and reach new markets.
Throughdirect territory management and supervision of the assistant director oftransfer admission, recruit undergraduate transfer students to achieveenrollment objectives:
Make recommendations to improve recruitment tactics.

Determinethe best next contact for each of the hot prospects in the territory. Thisinvolves regular use of the arsenal, which comprises both printed and webinformation collected for this purpose and members of the campus community -i.e., faculty, alumni, current students, coaches and parents of currentstudents. Heavy use of outgoing contacts via phone, email, IM, etc. tocultivate, engage, grade, persuade and close prospective transfer students.Always qualifies conversation and generates next steps (application, enrollmentdeposit, FAFSA, housing application, registration, etc.).

Leadgroup information sessions and also meets one-on-one with parents andprospective transfer students to provide information and assist in theapplication process; give campus tours.
Cultivate relationships with alumni, collegecounselors/advisors and other constituents in the territory to assist with therecruitment process. Work with counselors and/or advisors at targetedtwo-year colleges, as well as faculty in specific majors at those colleges inorder to develop strong relationships with each college.

Evaluateadmissions applications and related admission and scholarship decisions. Manageall transfer and re-admit applications and serve as liaison to school(s) orprogram(s). Make acceptance and financial aid packaging/depth sounding calls.

Manage leadpopulations entry into Slate from college fairs, college visits, individual andgroup visits.

Report to seniorenrollment management leadership regarding the status of application review inassigned territory, school/program(s).
Build strategicpartnerships with transfer counselors and other staff as appropriate atcommunity colleges. Work with community colleges and other higher educationinstitutions to establish articulation agreements. Identify new opportunitiesfor competitive academic plans.

Establish and maintain process with Registrar,Financial Aid, Advising, and School-Based Enrollment Staff for transfer creditevaluations, degree audit reviews, and enrollment advising.

Serve as a transfercredit evaluation and enrollment advising resource, providing an estimatedassessment of educational credits in compliance with degree requirements.

Represent the university at on- and off-campusadmissions events and programs, travel to college fairs and other recruitmentevents, and conduct group information sessions. Create and present admissionspresentations to internal and external constituents and fortransfer-student-specific recruitment events. Collaborate with campus partners, such as school-based enrollment staff andother enrollment-related teams, as it pertains to transfer recruitmentinitiatives.

Develop orientation and retention efforts for transferstudents. Assist in planning and executing a shared admissions budget forprograms, events, etc. Analyzes the effectiveness of recruitment events toensure that they both support the recruitment and enrollment goals of theuniversity and are an effective and efficient use of financial resources.

Coachand mentor, the assistant director of transfer admission. Train admissionsoffice to serve transfer students.

Performs other related duties as assigned in support of adynamic, goal-oriented team.

Travel isrequired 25% of the time.

Completes otherduties as assigned.

SUPERVISORYRESPONSIBILITIES:

Guides work of others whoperform the same work. May organize, set priorities, schedule and review work,but has no responsibility to hire, terminate, reviewing performance or make paydecisions.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, education or communication from an accreditedinstitution and 5-8 years of progressively responsible experience.

Position requires 5-8 yearsof progressive managerial admissions/enrollment experience in higher education.

Previous supervisoryexperience required.

Current valid PA Driver’slicense in good standing.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in business, education or communication from an accreditedinstitution.

Experience with creating andimplementing transfer recruitment strategies, two-year college articulationagreements and presenting to internal and external constituents.

Strong technology skills with proficiency in MicrosoftOffice Suite; experience with Banner, Slate, social media and integrateddatabase.

Alternately, thesuccessful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience andtraining, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required toperform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, thefollowing:

Knowledge of student recruitment and collegeadmissions and targeted recruitment programs.

Must become knowledgeable about all aspects ofDuquesne University including academic programs, campus events and activities,orientation, athletics, housing, financial aid, billing, college policy, andimportant dates.

Demonstrated planning and organizational skills toaccommodate multiple priorities.

Exceptional leadership, customer service,interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

Effective public speaking and presentation skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills withthe ability to prioritize work.

Ability to think strategically and work in a diverseenvironment both independently and as part of a team.

Ability to lift prospective student marketingmaterials (~30 pounds) and travel independently.

Ability to maintain a high energy level with anenthusiastic, positive approach creating an excellent rapport with prospectivestudents and their parents, team members and other departments within theUniversity community.

Dedicated to customer service and to the educationaldevelopment of students.

Ability to establish and maintain effectiverelationships with diverse populations, including students, faculty, scholars,and staff with sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated withdignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission ofthe University specifically.

Professional demeanor with the ability to deal withpeople in a courteous and tactful fashion regardless of circumstances.

Ability to work additional hours and weekends duringpeak application receipt and processing periods.

Knowledge and understanding of federal, states, andagency-accrediting rules and regulations as they pertain to higher education.
