Duplantis Design Group, PC (DDG) is Hiring a Survey Instrument Operator Near Houston, TX

Survey Instrument Operator

The Instrument Operator operates and maintains all survey equipment, works under the direction of the Crew Chief, collects and downloads survey data, directs loading and storage of equipment and maintains safety standards. They will team working closely with our internal survey team and engineers to deliver boundary, ALTA, topographic, and construction surveys utilizing the latest equipment and survey technologies including 3D Laser Scanning and LiDAR.

Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Assist a surveying or construction crew in assessing the topography and geography of a building site or parcel of land.
  • Calibrate and operate a variety of specialized surveying equipment, such as Robotic Total Stations, GPS, and other miscellaneous survey tools.
  • Collect data and report back to builders, contractors, or survey leaders.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff and clients.
  • Ability to regularly work outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, wet, and muddy conditions, and high/precarious places.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work overtime including weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to lift equipment or objects weighing 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Report all damaged and defective equipment to appropriate Supervisor.
  • Participate and conduct JSA and BBS observations.
  • Adhere to Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • Proper storage of equipment.
  • Monitor job area safety.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-2 years of experience preferred.
  • Candidates must be honest, reliable, and dependable.
  • Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
