Position Description:
DuPage Legal Aid is seeking a full-time lawyer with a deep commitment to public interest law and policy to join a small, dedicated team of staff attorneys and support personnel as a full-time Staff Attorney.
Staff Attorneys employed by our program manage a full case load with cases related to family law. This includes, but is not limited to, divorces, parental decision making and parenting time issues, orders of protection, and guardianship matters. The ideal candidate for this position is comfortable with litigation and has trial experience. Please note that DuPage Legal Aid staff attorneys only work on cases in DuPage County, so traveling outside of the DuPage County area is not necessary.
Staff Attorneys report directly to the Executive Director.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have:
· Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
· Legal practice experience preferred, but not required.
· Excellent oral and written advocacy skills.
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
· The ability to work in and value a collaborative team model, pro-bono and public service experience is preferred.
· Ability to commute to company office in Wheaton and DuPage County Judicial Center.
Compensation and Benefits:
· Starting salary commensurate to experience. Opportunity for annual salary increases and possible bonuses.
· SEP IRA enrollment after one year of employment. Employer contribution rate of 10% of annual salary.
· Monthly medical insurance stipend of $400.
· Life insurance policy worth $10,000.
