Reports To: Department Chair

Duration: 10 Months

Hours: 8:45 PM - 4:30 PM

Purpose Statement

The job of Credit Recovery Aide is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program within the Credit Recovery Program with specific responsibility for improving students success in basic academics (reading, language and/or math); assisting students by modeling the skills necessary to perform assignments; and by assisting with content area assignments, online content modules, and projects.

Essential Functions

Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.

Assists, under the supervision of the teacher, with classroom activities, assignments and/or materials for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.

Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records for the purpose of ensuring availability of items; providing written reference; providing a safe learning environment; and/or meeting mandated requirements.

Monitors individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.

Promotes good study habits for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.

Reports failing grades to supervisors for the purpose of providing extra assistance to students.

Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.

Responds to emergency situations (e.g. injured student, fights, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Updates grade reports on a weekly basis (e.g. Google Docs, etc.) for the purpose of tracking student progress.

Other Functions

Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Researches, under the supervision of the teacher, resources and methods (e.g. intervention and instructional techniques, assessment tools and methods, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate instructional approach for students.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment including computers and pertinent software applications; preparing and maintaining accurate records; self-starter; supervising skills; ability to maintain order and keep students on task.

KNOWLEDGE is required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: use of correct grammar and punctuation; content area knowledge in a needed area of math, science or English.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others. Problem solving is required to identify issues. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: consistently attending work; adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; ability to work well with students individually and in groups; and working with frequent interruptions.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision; guiding others. Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to promote a positive image of District 88. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the organization’s services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 16% sitting, 31% walking, and 54% standing. The job is performed under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean atmosphere.

Education High school diploma or equivalent.

Licenses Educator License with Stipulations – Paraprofessional endorsement or higher
