The Fabrications Team Leader manages the day-to-day activities of team members to ensure quality workmanship is performed in an efficient and professional manner; and acts as a positive role model by mentoring team members, supporting company and shop decisions, and assisting in communicating and accomplishing shop and team goals and objectives. In addition, this position schedules and manages all aspects of fabrication/PMA projects; completes inspections, performs functional tests and completes all required paperwork in a safe, clean and organized work area.
Essential Job Functions
1. Manages team members by scheduling and assigning work and monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure efficient team operation, proper allocation of resources and that all processes performed comply with approved data and specifications.
2. Prioritizes and manages multiple complex projects by developing flowcharts and timelines for assigned projects, working with all departments involved and external customers, and monitoring parts status and workflow to ensure a timely delivery and customer satisfaction. Attends project meetings.
3. Oversees, completes and maintains accurate and timely aircraft and project documentation. Reviews preliminary reports for accuracy of forecasted hours, work orders and invoices to ensure timely and accurate inventory allocation, appropriate sign-off language, and accurate charges for labor and outside services are applied prior to billing. Participates in reviewing of the final invoice with appropriate management and sales team members for profitability, accuracy and accountability. Assists professionally and courteously in addressing customer billing disputes and work order reviews for maintenance actions performed by team members.
4. Promotes growth and development of assigned team members to foster team cohesiveness and trust by monitoring and evaluating team members' performance in a professional, positive, accurate and timely manner. Addresses performance issues utilizing key incident journals and performance improvement plans. Identifies and recommends technical and non-technical training needs and opportunities for team members to the department management. Oversees and ensures active participation of team members in the departmental coaching program. Participates in personal and leadership development opportunities and demonstrates leadership and professionalism at all times.
5. Performs all duties of a PMA Supervisor and a Qualified Inspector. Inspects and reviews design data to assure current approval. Inspects and reviews in-work and completed parts to determine conformity to approved data along with conducting and documenting tests. Supervises the completion of inspection and test documents. 6. Designs and fabricates sheetmetal parts and tooling following the PMA process using all shop tooling, equipment, and hardware. Collaborates with Engineering and other departments to solve problems. Supervises the set-up and maintenance of parts and materials storage areas to assure compliance with FAA regulations. Inspects fabrication tooling for wear, damage and conformity to approved data and maintains fabrication tooling inspection records in a current status.
