Dumas ISD is Hiring an ARD Facilitator Near Dumas, TX

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The ARD facilitator is responsible for coordination, planning and preparation of compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education services. The ARD Facilitator is also responsible for managing a caseload of students with regard to programming needs, collaborative efforts between service providers, administration, instructional personnel, and parents/guardians, and facilitate the ARD process.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred
  • Special Education certification preferred


Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of rules and regulations governing special education
  • Knowledge of Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process and
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation
  • Knowledge of how to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures and data
  • Ability to adjust to change in a positive manner
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills


Experience:

  • At least 2 years teaching experience preferred, preferably in an at-risk setting, including experience with students with disabilities and other students with diverse learning


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Coordinate and facilitate ARD meetings on
  • Coordinate with assessment personnel regarding special education student
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local special education requirements, especially in the areas of annual ARDs and all evaluations.
  • Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of staff to develop the IEP through the ARD Committee process for each student assigned.
  • Collect and organize relevant assessment data from student’s cumulative folder, classroom teacher(s), principal, support staff, parents, and outside resource personnel.
  • Completes applicable ARD supplements with accompanying data collected by campus
  • Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality staff development opportunities for personal growth.
  • Research and comply with all district policy and current practices prior to taking
  • Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department and content
  • Demonstrate integrity and
  • Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
  • Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents as required by federal and state rules and regulations and district policy and procedures.
  • Maintains thorough documentation regarding any significant problems with ARD Committee procedures; attends Special Education Department staff meetings; attends relevant professional development.

Regular district wide travel to multiple campuses as assigned. Regularly sit, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequent repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer; occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally required to stand, walk reach with hands and arms; vision abilities include close vision; and color vision, regularly work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress; the noise level is usually moderate. The employee may spend long hours in intense concentration which requires attention to detail. There are a number of deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant stress. The employee must also deal with a wide variety of people on various issues. Regularly perform multiple, highly complex, tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions and compliance with legal guideline. Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances and integrating into different school environments.
